I really wanted to like The Agitated Grape Bar & Bistro. I have seen this restaurant in downtown Davison and heard about their interesting drinks.

For my birthday 🥳 🎂 meal, I picked this place. This Sunday was my first time visiting and the restaurant definitely had a nice vibe and contemporary feel. The food was okay, but was overpriced in my opinion. The drinks were interesting however, I ordered Lucious Lemonade and the drink smelled weird. Since it was $8, I decided I better drink the poison anyway.

To back up a bit…we called the restaurant earlier in the week and were told the kitchen closed at 6:30 pm so we were best advised to get our order in by 6 pm. When we pressed them on another phone call, we were advised that having a reservation at 6 pm would be cutting it tight especially if we talked since the restaurant closes at 7 pm on Sunday. Incidentally, this does not match the hours on the Google Maps. We ended up making a reservation at 5 pm to avoid any challenges. At 5 pm, we were all seated and the waitress brought water, plastic glasses and a pitcher for us to pour ourselves a drink of water and then proceeded to take our drink order. The drinks came out but after a little wait, I went over to the bar to see if she’d take our food order. I think it was getting close to 5:30 pm. I could tell she was the only server in the restaurant so I told her I could write down the order for her. This might have embarrassed her so she came over to the table and left the drink she was making at the bar.

I ordered the Apple Gorgonzola salad and the bowl was small and I felt for $12 that it was overpriced. The personal pizzas could serve 2 people, but if you’re hungry you’ll probably want one for yourself. The pizzas were the size of a small dinner plate. We had to ask for silverware and she did but provide any napkins so I got them from the bar myself.

As I mentioned, there was only one server/waitress which in my opinion seemed like there should have been more servers given the number of people in the restaurant. However, Olivia, the server was nice, personable and accommodating when we asked for help.

The chef came out and asked how about our meal so, I thought that was extremely nice. However, he proceeded to sit at the bar. We were the only people in the restaurant and I thought that was odd considering usually the wait staff and chefs do not hang out at the bar once they’re through with work.

It could have been an off night for the restaurant, but I found that it wasn’t a place I’d rave about and go to again.

As luck would have it, we’ll be back here for my niece’s birthday so we will get to check it out again and I will update my review. I’d sum this restaurant up like this:

➖/ ➕ Small intimate restaurant ➖ Long wait to get order submitted ➖ Limited menu ➖ Small, expensive portions ➖ Food was ok ➕ Friendly personnel ➕ Contemporary setting with nice vibe ➕ Easy parking ➕ Clean bathrooms

Overall, I’m certainly not agitated if anything, I’m more indifferent and underwhelmed. Hopefully, I will have a different experience on...

We were attracted to the Agitated Grape because it looked like it could be a fun bar with good food that was somewhat local. While the bar was nice the food and prices were not!! To start I ordered a whiskey flight of which the whiskey was good, however the pours were smaller then I have gotten at a grocery store sampling but here the cost $17 for 4 thimble sized samples. For an app we ordered the cheese bread sticks which ended up being the best part of the meal even though they were over cooked on the edges and doughy in the middle. For dinner we ordered the Mac & Cheese, Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese, the Fry Bread Tacos (1 chicken and 1 beef) and some Fry's. The regular Mac&Cheese was bad enough that my daughter who loves Mac&Cheese only ate a quarter of it.

I had the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese which flavor wise was OK but the shredded chicken in the dish was terrible. It had the texture and taste of canned tuna fish.

As for the Fry Bread Tacos, the beef taco was not bad. The shell was good but the seasoning was off. On the other hand the chicken taco was very bad. Again it was made with the tuna tasting chicken found in the Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese.

All of these dishes were of the smaller size, however the prices were as if they were full-sized meals.

The restaurant was in an older brick building in downtown Davidson and has the potential to be a charming restaurant.

As for the service the bar tender was also the waitress which made for alright service but not amazing service.

The bottom line is that the Agitated Grape is a bar with expensive food and drinks that are not worth the price. Unfortunately, I will most likely not...

I was excited to try this place, but it was a huge disappointment. We went here with friends on a Friday night at 7:30pm. We were a group of 6 people. The upstairs was packed, so we were seated on the back patio. We were the only group seated in that area, and server seemed very annoyed to attend to us. It was cold, and we asked to turn on the heaters, but she said they don’t know where the remote is to turn them on. I ordered a flight of wine, but she said they can’t serve them on the indoor patio because of the steps. My husband ordered a coffee bourbon, and it was pure amaretto. It tasted like cough syrup. Others in our party ordered old fashions, and they were clearly made with whiskey, not bourbon. I tasted two wines before ordering a glass. The wine was not great, but I ordered a Sauvignon Blanc because so much time had passed since she had brought the tastes, and others were not happy with the mixed cocktails, so I just settled. Still the food came out before I got my glass of wine, only to find it was a Chardonnay not Sauvignon Blanc. We ordered spinach dip, goat cheese bruschetta and pulled pork sliders. The food was OK, but in passing out the appetizer plates, two of them were dirty, so two people ate off of napkins. The server didn’t come back until we were all done eating. I mentioned that the wine was a Chardonnay not a Sauvignon Blanc, and she said “OK” with an attitude. She didn’t offer to replace it or take it off of the bill. My husband drank it. We asked for the check and decided to move on to another establishment that might actually appreciate...

First visit here... Will perform my normal 3 visits across 6 months and adjust my review accordingly to accommodate a singular experience. 4/3/2021 Saturday 6pm table for 4 - no wait sat at 6 top Friendliness - Awesome server. Great mannerisms and attitude! Asthetics - Small spot that fits well for a gathering of up to 6. Brick walls, white and black paint, modern restroom facilities, and open concept for the bar area. Kitchen is not visible or audible from front street seating area. Drinks - solid selection for this size of a spot. I would have liked some different options but once I was informed it was all Michigan... I was good. Wines, beer, ciders, and soda... Good stuff. Food - this is the only place I think that it was less than 5 stars. 3 types of mac and cheese were all great except the pulled pork. My pork was refrigerated and was supposed to top the Mac&Cheese... Did not make sense to me. Crabby Mac and the Fiesta Mac were awesome. The "plain" mac and cheese was anything but. Cheesey and flavorful. Waffles with bourbon maple syrup was simply phenomenal. Waffle texture was perfect, flavor of waffle was perfect, and then you add a top grade bourbon syrup... Just divine. Verdict - recommended
