Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Daytona Beach

Summary: I can't really recommend this place during covid, yeah sure it has some good value and the food is pretty good (for the value) but the drive through experience is one of the worst. Steaknshake is typically a really good place but this specific location is really sub-par

Specifics: half the time I dont get my total and sometimes I do and I say "thanks" and usually dont hear anything back. Most of the time they lack basic greetings. "what do you want?" "hi (thats it)" lines are realllly long for the volume of cars. I would normally excuse this because i typically wouldn't consider this fast food but ive definitley gotten my food quickly before. (if you see a line of cars extending to the speaker expect to wait 20 minutes.) Ive had a few mishaps happen that I would probably forgive if service was nicer and it didnt happen so often:

once they had my card for a couple of minutes as I was waiting for my food (nothing came of it but it was pretty concerning)

(this is what put me over the edge to write this review) I had another incident in which I ordered but there was a very long delay between her replies, ultimately I had to explain (a couple times.) what I wanted and then even then It was a short and simple order with almost no customization but I had to explain what was on the sandwhich. After waiting the 20 minutes for my food I received a bag with half the contents of what I had ordered. Not a huge deal i'm a patient guy, but she somehow only managed to give me 75% of what I asked for before she closed the window on me. I had to beckon for their attention to try and get it sorted and ultimately waited another couple minutes for the food to cook (is what i hope was happening, because it took soooo long to put some fries in a bag.) I took it all home to find that they managed to get the contents of the sandwich wrong despite it being a non customized sandwich.

We went there it was really busy. We we're sat quickly. The waitress Amanda was at the table within 3 minutes. She was quick and in point. We ordered the food and it was there within 10 minutes. Everything was great. Except there was a bread tie in the salad. Really not a big deal. A good time was had for only 18$ including tip. Not BAD!!

Third visit was bad. I asked the waitress Mercedes how she was doing she told me she wanted to shoot herself in the face. Good way to get started. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger. When it came it was in a tiny saucer. The small cold fries came on a separate saucer as well. I had to ask for a real plate. The burger was greasy and very small. No meat mostly bun and grease. My wife just wanted ba birthday cake milk shake. It was more like cheap vanilla ice cream with a few sprinkles on top. One high note was when I went to pay the bill I decided I wanted a milkshake. So I ordered a Oreo mint one. I complained about my wife's shake and asked them to make it good. Boy did they ever. Very good job. Last but not least when I went out side to get in the car a bum was standing by my car and asked me if I wanted to buy 2 dozen frozen shrimp for $10.00 I didn't see a freezer on his bicycle so I decided to pass. I’m from Kentucky where we don’t have Steak ‘n Shake. When i came down for vacation and realized they had a Steak ‘n Shake my friend and i were eager to go there. Upon getting there i realized it was us two and one other elderly man that was there (the man had already eaten). So we were positive we were going to have quick service. Boy was i wrong. Our waitress stood with a group of other employees talking and eating, looking at me the whole time, and then finally approached after 5-10 minutes of waiting (JUST TO GET US DRINKS). We order the food finally and i see the food sitting on the shelf like it was done and she didn’t even budge to go get it. I had to stop someone else to get my food because it was getting cold. Then she was very rude and sat down the check (never asked how anything tasted NOTHING). We wanted milkshakes and she didn’t even bring us the milkshakes a completely separate waitress. She ate and socialized the whole time. I’m not sure if i can put names out here in the rating but if i were you i would request anyone EXCEPT the blonde girl whose name starts with an r.
