I'll get right to the point: Mr. Ginger is the best Chinese take-out place in the greater Green Bay area. It is our family's go-to Sunday dinner option if we can't decide on anything else (usually once a month) and its always proven to be a great choice.
Making your order: We order either online or over the phone and both are super easy. The online process is simple and you can include tip. Very simple and convenient, not much more to say.
Timing: Normally, we make our order online, drive ten minutes to pick it up, and its usually ready. That is fast! We've only had to wait a few times but this was due to high volume. I will gladly wait for good food and a busy resto is always a good sign.
The food: Best Rangoons! I order these every time and they are always so crisp, a little chewy and the filling is just perfect. No sweet sauce required. I won't get into the detail about each recipe because everyone knows General Tso's/Seseame chicken/etc tastes like. I'm going to say that their dishes aren't overly sweet or salty, which is conducive to plowing down most of your food before you realize it.
The rice is always acceptable. Its never crunchy or dry but sometimes sticky. I like to think I make better rice at home but food somehow tastes better when you don't have to make it!
The portion side is right for the price. The "healthy options" page is also a great option as they put the sauce on the size and its verrryyyy savory. So if you'd looking for Chinese but want to skip the inevitable bloat (because just one more rangoon) then go for the healthy option.
I do have one negative but not enough to bring it to four stars and I find this with most Chinese take-out: any breaded and fried chicken can sometimes be way too chewy. This isn't often the case here but I have ran into it with some chicken dishes. Most people won't notice/complain.
And that's it! Give it a shot and order...
Read moreOrdered quickly enough... however it took a while to get our food...they were busy so we thought this was a good sign.
Got our food, the order was wrong. Had we gotten a receipt when I checked out and specifically ASKED for one,(instead of being refused a copy at the checkout), I would have known right away that the guy didn't order what I asked for. Which would have kept the girl at the counter from getting an attitude about it.
General TSO chicken was cold, I honestly don't think they heated the broccoli in the container at all. Ordered fried rice, got white. They charged me for a combination, yet I paid for an extra egg roll which we didn't get at all. Egg drop soup was good, as was the one egg roll. Fried rice was different, but at least it was hot. Couldn't have eaten the Tso's even if it were hot, as the pieces were absolutely huge. They offer a fork and spoon for silverware...let me suggest that you add in plastic knives.
Took the Tso's home, attempted to reheat it, it was so tough and dry it went directly to the trash.
Overall, a very disappointing meal that was pretty spendy since we had to go elsewhere to get an additional meal.
Sorry, but we expected better. Not entirely sure we will go back to...
Read moreNew to the area. Got take out chinese close to home while still unpacking. Food was ready quickly after calling. Man on the phone was nice as was the girl at the counter when picking up the food. Good price point for the portions. I will say, whenever we've ordered General Tso chicken combo elsewhere, it's usually come with a side of a few pieces of steamed broccoli. Which Mr. Gingers did not. I was mostly happy with everything we ordered. The fried rice did seem a little bland. And my husband said it wasn't the best General Tso he's ever had. But I didn't have any complaints about it. The Lo Mein was good/there was alot for a small order. And the sweet and sour chicken was good also. I wouldn't have a problem returning. But also, may look for other Chinese...
