I recently had the opportunity to celebrate Eid with my family at a this restaurant and was quite eager to enjoy a meal there. Our order comprised six sushi rolls in a sushi boat, shrimp fried rice, crab Rangoon, and a chicken and fries kids meal for my son.
While the sushi was acceptable, it certainly did not stand out as the best I’ve experienced. It was decent enough but left much to be desired. The crab Rangoon was a highlight, although the bed of lettuce underneath rendered them somewhat soggy, which detracted from the overall experience. Unfortunately, the shrimp fried rice fell short and was not to my or my husband’s liking whatsoever we literally had maybe five cut chunks of shrimp in the entire meal. There was barely any shrimp whatsoever...
The dining experience was further marred by the customer service, which I found to be quite poor. It took over 20 minutes for me to receive my receipt, and I waited 15 minutes just for a drink refill. Moreover, my attempts to communicate with our server seemed to irk him, as he walked away while I was still trying to place my order. To my surprise, an automatic gratuity of $20 was added to our bill. While I appreciate the inclusion of gratuity, I believe better service would have prompted me to leave an even higher tip. My background as a server makes me particularly sensitive to the level of service, and I found the treatment we received to be disappointing.
We dined at approximately 4 PM, a time when the restaurant was not particularly busy, and there were still empty tables available. Despite our efforts to be polite and keep the environment pleasant, including ensuring our three-year-old son, who behaved exceptionally well, added no disruptions, the service we encountered was frustrating.
In summary, while the sushi was average and there was a gentleman with a beard who exemplified politeness, the overall experience was marred by the rude demeanor of our assigned server. As a result, we spent $120 but left feeling dissatisfied – not due to the sushi itself, but because of the dreadful customer service. Therefore, I cannot recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking pleasant dining coupled with quality food and attentive service. I really really wish we would’ve went somewhere else for Eid and I’m so disappointed we wasted our holiday at...
Read moreTypically, I'm not one to find sushi unappetizing, but the rolls I ordered left much to be desired.
I tried three rolls: the Phoenix, Popcorn, and Chef's Selection. Unfortunately, none of them impressed me. The Phoenix had chewy, flavorless shrimp smothered in an excessive amount of sauce. While the popcorn roll was passable, it lacked the finesse found in other establishments' basic rolls. As for the Chef's Selection, it was the most disappointing with its overly sweet sauce that gave the impression of melting/thawing fish, which was off-putting from the start.
Sampling six other rolls from my friends' orders didn't salvage the dining experience either. The spicy avocado salmon was mediocre at best, easily overshadowed by options elsewhere. The visually appealing lemon-topped roll was disappointingly bitter, failing to deliver on its promise. I've had lemon-topped rolls elsewhere that were top-tier and refreshing, but this one missed the mark. Even the seared roll, while boasting good quality fish, was marred by an excessive amount of cream cheese that I had to spit out, ruining an otherwise decent dish.
Beyond the food, the service left much to be desired. We waited for 30 minutes and many failed attempts of signaling for assistance before a server finally took our order, and his rushed demeanor only added to the disrespect. We finished our water quite early on and had no one come to fill it up again, even when we were still getting food served to the table. The lack of attention was glaring, but the best part was that other women-only tables did not face these issues from what we noticed.
Given the hefty price tag of over $50 for three rolls and an app split 3 ways, the underwhelming food and service were particularly disappointing. Even during iftar, a time when I can enjoy and appreciate any food post-fasting, even dirt, the food was still gross, and the experience fell short. It's puzzling how this establishment maintains its ratings when the food isn't good and the service is far from satisfactory.
Miso soup was good, though. I'll give them that. Though, can you really even mess...
Read moreThis was the first time my husband and I have dined here. From the moment we walked in the door (literally), we were met with kindness and generosity. There was a line so we were standing at the vestibule door, holding it open. A man came in behind us and said, "Please, allow me to hold the door for you." Then he said he was going to talk to the manager about getting us seated. This is when I asked if he was the owner or something. Lol And he said that he was!! He got in the door, spoke to the host and the manager and jump straight to work! The owner was clearing tables and giving his employees directions. I love when owners and managers aren't afraid to get to work with their employees!! We were seated, ordered amazing food, and had wonderful service! The restaurant was full and we did not wait long for our food. The owner himself got up from his own table, and brought us our food! Then later he made sure to check on us. He said that he wanted to make sure his first time guest were enjoying themselves. We talked for a few minutes with him. He was very personable. We stuffed ourselves full and before the waitress bought us our bill, she brought out an amazing tempura fried Oreo dessert with ice cream and whipped cream!! Free of charge! A gift from the owner! I honestly felt like I was famous or royalty from the moment we got there! We will definitely be back! And we can even bring our picky eating children since they offer chicken tenders. Thank you to the owner, Ash, for making us feel extra special on a much needed date night! To feel like a priority was...
