Bartz Bakery — Restaurant in Dearborn

Ordered from Bartz for our wedding, 7/11/20. We had great recommendations and we were excited! We changed the number of the tiers two days before the wedding (crazy, stressful time lol) and the day before wedding Bob called me to finalize the exact order. We discussed what I wanted (all white frosting with light purple design), bob then tried to get me to change the design "BUT it's really your choice", I then told Bob "no I would like" said design above and he confirms it back to me i thought we were all set. Fast forward day of wedding, lots going on, I was not there when cake was dropped off nor did I get to see it at all before it was brought out to the guests and LET ME TELL YOU, I cant even put into words the exact heartbreak I felt seeing that cake! I was EMBARRASSED!!!!!!! They sent me an ALL white bottom tear and and ALL purple top tier! WHICH WAS BASICALLY WHAT BOB TRIED GETTING ME TO AGREE TO AND I TOLD HIM NO I WOULD LIKE THE DESIGN WE DISCUSSED AND HE SAYS NO PROBLEM AND REPEATS IT BACK TO ME. It looked like a girls birthday cake! Honestly, I kept this one detail a secret and when it came out if front of all of us I knew my guesting were waiting to see what we chose and it was not at all what we ordered!!! Terrible embarrassment and heart break on our big day. Anyways I went about a week later to return the stands and get some of my money back for removing a tier and the nice young lady wrote a note for BOB to call me because of a complaint....... end of the month now and I have yet to hear from anyone at Bartz bakery. Wouldn't even give me a chance to tell them they made a mistake and not a little one on a very expensive and important cake. Shame on you. I wont deny it was delicious but the way you do business will be a no for us from now on. I'll always remember how Bartz bakery in Dearborn ruined a big moment on...

Wow, I LOVE this place.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. I found that this place is like a little well kept secret.

I am a chocolate lover, and for years I've been saying "WHY can't people male chocolate cake with cocolate icing and chocolate shavings or sprinkles?" to which most people make a face and say "That's too much CHOCOLATE"...um but I suppose there's no such thing as too much Vanilla, right? Anyhow, I walk in, and this place has EVERYTHING...more importantly, they have chocolate chocolate chocolate cakes and cupcakes and other desserts. There's plent Vanilla and yellow cake, and fruit desserts to please the non-chocolate enthusiasts...but I have finally found a bakery that I can call HOME!!! They also make an AWESOME Canoli Cake (Cassada Cake)...which is yellow cake with canoli filling between the layers and buttercream frosting, YUM! Very clean, the staff are very nice, and they do custom orders...what more could I ask for! AND, they're very inexpensive...my friends and I went in there and picked out every pastry that caught our eye, expecting to pig out that night...we were prepared for a $20+ bill...and it only came out to under $10 !!! You can't get that ANYWHERE these days! That's even cheaper than Kroger, but BOY did it all taste good, and you can't get cupcakes this big, or this delicious in any grocery store.

And no, they didn't ask me for the review...I'm just genuinely in love with...

This bakery is near and dear to my heart as my father used to take me here many times a week. I have fond memories of him graciously buying me a cupcake and sitting at the tables. The smell of fresh bread, pastries, and sweets is intoxicatingly good and hits you right as you enter. Very clean, cozy, and well kept; organized and perfectly laid out. Staff helpful, friendly, and hospitable. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and there are absolutely no complaints. Taste, look, texture are perfect. Their prices, too, are great and reasonable. My personal favorites are the Mille-Feuille (Napoleon), cannoli, cinnamon roll, spinach pie, and of course, their cakes. We ordered a large sheet cake for a family gathering and it was a complete hit- people saying: “it was one of the best cakes I have ever had.” Also, there was an easy and convenient pick-up. Cannot recommend this bakery enough! Stop by, you will not regret it.
