#EagleTavern located in #GreenFieldVillage is a unique place to bend an elbow at the bar or enjoy a traditional inspired meal in their eating area. The servers and help staff wear period clothing, mid 19th Century like the tavern, and are very friendly and helpful in their service. There was a wait to be seated, but that was ok, we put our name on the list and the wait allowed us to chat with the host. Once seated my husband ordered a nice hot #AppleCider and I went with a traditional #CherryEffervescent beverage. Both very tasty. The meal comes with various “Relishes of the season” fresh baked breads, fresh churned butter, and house made pickles. I loved them. For mains we went with #RoastChicken with Horseradish Sauce which was served with yummy roasted #Potatoes And lovely #Carrots cut rustically. A simple dish with great flavor, hearty, and filling. #beefStew was the other main, suggested by the server, which was an excellent recommendation. The stew was rich and had great depth of flavor. The stew was served with a great crusty sliced bread and the lovely Rustic Carrots. It was fun to enjoy the meal amongst community tables and to see the other patrons enjoying thier meal. The Eagle Tavern is definitely a must visit when visiting the Greenfield Village, part of the Henry Ford Complex. You do have to be a paying member to visit the Tavern but we just payed for a year membership for the museum and village and feel like we are supporting a good organization and can visit anytime we are in the area....
Read moreNOT family friendly... I'm a Henry Ford Museum member and came here ironically on member appreciation day. Had a 1 year old and my elderly mom with me. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, which was fine. But once seated and had my son with his bib on the high chair, we waited 5 minutes and no server acknowledged us. I stood up and found a busboy and asked him to get our server. He said he would and we still didn't see anyone after 2 minutes. I said I wanted to speak with a manager and they directed me to somebody who said she would get me a server. 2 minutes look later, we just started gathering my toddler and our things. With the prices they charged here, I expected better service. The ladies in front that seat people said it's not right and told me to wait to get the manager. She said if I can stay she'll rush my order. She asked me what I wanted and I said the noodles. She said it would take a long time to saute the vegetables. Hmmm... seriously? The meaning of "saute" is to cook food quickly. Please do your kids and family a favor, " don't come here." This place is not considerate with families with little kids. What service? We couldn't even get anybody to get our order. I filed a complaint at guest services. I hope they do something with the lack of service here. I put 1 star down because the ladies in period costume in front were nice. Will not waste my time, not money...
Read moreWe are fans of The Henry Ford & Greenfield Village. We have gone there 2-3 a year for the past 11 years. We never have tried the Eagle Tavern until today for lunch during the Old Car Show. The atmosphere of Eagle Tavern is like if you sat down in one of the houses and had a meal, just more crowded. No electric lights, candle light. The staff were polite, knew the menu and service was quick. The key thing to know is they try to be authentic to the era of the late 1800's. We ordered our meals and fresh muffins, bread, jam and bread and butter pickles were server. All very good. I ordered a beef dish, it was a good meal, not huge portions but nice. My wife had roasted chicken, also nice but not huge. My daughter had a noodles and vegetables dish, that she did not like nor did any of us like, too bitter, with an odd after taste. The prices are not cheap $15-$23 a plate. Salad and desert start at $5 each. They always post the menu outside so you can see the price before you go in. So no surprise for us but we were disappointed they did not offer a different meal once we told the waiter no one liked the noodle dish. So out of three meals 2 where nice. Service was good but did not go the extra mile. Yet, it is a unique experience. There are many other food options that are good and easier on your wallet in Greenfield. Yet the Eagle Tavern is worth a try for...
