Terrible experience today. Called in the morning to make a reservation. Reserved for 4 adults and 2 children (age 2 and a 2 month infant). Got a call in the afternoon to confirm my reservation and I did). Arrived at time of iftaar and was set on a table of 6 people. I informed that one person couldn't make it so it's just 3 adults and 2 children. I asked for a smaller table since they were very busy and I know how much larger tables mean for business. The waitress told me it's not a problem. We sat down, went to buffet and got our food. Within 5 minutes of getting the food, manager/owner gentleman came to us and asked how many we are. I told them we are a table of 3 adults and a 2 year old and infant. He said you reserved for 4 people so by their policy, they will charge us for 4 people. I was about to say no problem but he started mentioning the price of the buffet and saying you'll have to pay $27 dollars for the person that didn't show up. I was just thinking what to do and he told me to sit for few mins and he would move me to a different table when it became available and we wouldn't have to pay for the 4th person that couldn't make it. I'm like sure. He moved us to a round table of also 6+ people. I asked for an explanation and his answer was that my previous table was close to another rectangle table of 6 and they got a party of 12. Instead of telling us that in advance, he brought up the policy excuse for making me pay extra. After we sat down to this new table, another waiter came over and asked about how many people we were. I explained the situation to him and began eating. We barely ate anything because the food wasn't up to our expectations. I asked the waitress to get my check. She again asked how many people. I said 3 adults. She's like what about the child? My niece is 2 years old and had no real food except some rice from my mom's plate. Literally less than 20 grains of rice if you would believe that. I didn't get my check for over 10 mins so I walked up to the front desk and asked for a check. I told her 3 adults and she couldn't place where they moved me after the first table. She charged for for 4 people stating that's what my reservation is for. At this point, I have had it. This was the same person that mistakenly gave me a bigger table and then didn't take my advice on giving me a smaller table. I told her to get the manager/owner since he's the reason we moved so they wouldn't change for extra person. Instead of calling him, she said I'll remove the extra person. And next thing she said was what got me to review this place. She told me that she already applied the tip to my bill. I worked at restaurant for 3 years. I know how things work. You don't add gratuity for parties under 5/6 people.
Overall, this was a waste of ~$90, rude waiters/service, and mediocre food experience. Never again. Owner/manager apologized for the inconvenience but did not take it upon himself to our experience was decent or not.
Lesson learned is that interior/reputation of the restaurant doesn't always reflect reality. Poor management techniques used today have lost my business for good. Stay away from this place and save your...

Habibs, even on its most busy days the host got us into a booth before I could even say 2 and the pretty gold door could close behind me. I have recognized some waiters faces being there for years now. Their service is beyond fast. Generally most of the waiters are literally running table to table. Very professional type, not the type of waiters you can fart, burp and shoot the sheet around and expect them to join in. If you define that as 'friendly' attitude stick to the sports bars. These waiters have a job to do they take your order and off to the kitchen they go.
Getting the meal has never taken more then 10 minutes. Even my most impatient girlfriend was surpised by just how fast it took them to cook the meal. Of all the people I have taken I have never had anyone less than blown away by the volume of food you get for the price and the quality. Paying 15$ for a dinner seems high but when you're walking out with 6 boxes (3 dinners more) of food after the meal. You really understand what value truly is.
Food has always always been good through the years. I think a big problem with Arabic/ethnic food is everyone likes to argue its not authentic. 'My momma from old country didn't make it like this so it's not authentic'. Even though Habib's momma and your momma were probably 2 villages away from each other in Lebanon this is enough to make a difference and what makes everyone having their own different/special way of preparing food. So to call it non-authentic is far fetched.
During my time at U of Md we always found Habibs to somehow manage to sneak and prepare the food before we could even open the door/event. For all the naysayers about the place sure acted quite differently when Habibs catered. Generally you had to keep it hidden that you were getting Habibs catered for your event otherwise hawks would swoon in and rob you out of house and home over the delightful dishes.
I just don't see what all the negativity is about, yesterday a family came in behind us sat instantly (like us). Ordered food and some coke and within 2 minutes all were served coke. 10 minutes later go their food literally didn't eat anything and walked out? I don't see how coke and a dinner plate could cause someone to walk out but okay?? Guess you can't make some people happy which Habibs seems to unfortunately attract a lot of.
All in all if you want to really impress a person with some Arabic cuisine. Habibs...
Read moreWife and I came by for dinner. Assumed we would have a great experience. It wasnt my first time there, but definitely will be our last. We were sat quickly which was fine but the paper table cover was really dirty and needed to be changed. The waiter was the worst I have ever experienced in any restaurant I have been to in and around Dearborn. He came to the table and after greeting us he left and came back and asked my wife an unusual non related question. He seemed to occupied with my wife more than doing his job. At that point I was really upset and surprised at his dimeaner. I wanted to leave but my wife was fasting and she needed to eat, so we decided to stay.
After we ordered he didn't return until the food arrived. His attitude seemed aggressive as he wasnt really Interested In our business. I hope he isn't related to the owners because we are not returning. After a very less than par meal he dropped off the check and never returned.
He spent more time with a table that seemed to be his friends. There was something fishy going on because they were meeting away from the table. Enough said.
The same waiter was handling the family of 6 or 7 next to us. The lady at the table complained about her dish and he argued with her to try to convince her that she was wrong. The lady wasn't really happy but explained that her dish had hair in it and she wanted it replaced. He stopped as if to say so what and your wrong because it doesnt look like hair. The lady continued to talk to her family at the table. Clearly she wasnt talking to him, the waiter fired back at the mother in a very aggressive manner asking, if there was something else wrong. She said no but I do want my food replaced. He ran off......
Anyhow, Good luck to the owner but honestly it's a shame that they conduct business in the manner and try to get personal with customers. ...
