⭐️⭐️⭐️ Paradise Café - Creative Fusion Food with Room for Improvement
We visited Paradise Café excited to try their fusion menu and High Chai experience. While the food was fresh and creative, the service was disorganized, and unclear communication left us feeling overlooked. Here’s what to know before visiting:
Ambiance & Seating: The café is cozy and quaint, much smaller than it appears online. We arrived around 3:30 PM and were seated almost immediately, which was great. The atmosphere is pleasant and inviting, but the small size combined with service delays made it feel a bit chaotic during our visit.
Service: While the staff was friendly, the service was frustratingly disorganized. After being seated, we weren’t greeted or offered water for 30 minutes. Water finally arrived at 4 PM, and our order wasn’t taken until 4:15 PM.
We ordered drinks, including masala chai, but were told it would take 30–45 minutes—odd for a place known for its chai. Adding to the frustration, every other table, even those seated after us, received their chai quickly. One table came in, ordered food, ate, and left before we got anything.
At 4:45 PM, they offered us the High Chai option, but by then, we had already waited over an hour and placed our order. Our food arrived around 5 PM. To their credit, they gave us chai to take home, which was a kind gesture, but it didn’t make up for the delays. Ahmad, one of the servers, was very kind and tried his best to help.
Food & Drinks: The menu is creative, with some standout dishes, but not everything lived up to expectations: • Naan Appetizer: This comes with a variety of sauces. While the naans are usually plain, they made an exception and served both plain and garlic naan, which we appreciated. We originally ordered it with cilantro hummus, but it was bland and lacked cilantro flavor. We swapped it for the butter sauce, which was rich and delicious. • Raita: Unfortunately, the raita was overly liquidy, with finely chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions. It seemed more like a chaas base, which ironically wasn’t available. • Paneer Bhurji Pizza: A highlight! The flavors were bold and creative, though cheddar cheese felt out of place for Indian fusion. Still, the combination worked well and is worth trying. • Pani Puri: This was an interesting twist with fryum-style puris and chickpea salsa chaat filling. The pani water was flavorful, but traditionalists may find it less authentic. • Masala Lemonade: Refreshing and highly recommended! • Pomegranate Drink: We tried ordering several drinks from the menu (like lassi and masala chai), but many weren’t available. We ended up with a pomegranate-based drink that was good but unremarkable.
The food at other tables looked fresh and vibrant, but as we learned with the cilantro hummus, appearance doesn’t always guarantee flavor.
High Chai: We specifically came for the High Chai experience, but it only starts at 5 PM—something that isn’t clear online or on the menu. At 4:45 PM, they finally offered it to us, but we had already committed to our original order. If you’re planning to visit for High Chai, arrive closer to 5 PM to avoid confusion.
Final Thoughts: Paradise Café has great potential, with fresh ingredients and creative fusion dishes like the Paneer Bhurji Pizza and butter sauce. However, disorganized service, unclear communication, and long wait times detracted from the experience.
On a positive note, their gesture of giving us chai to take home was appreciated. If you visit, plan carefully—arrive closer to 5 PM for High Chai and stick to their standout dishes. With better organization, Paradise Café could become a true gem for fusion...
Read moreWe visited Paradise Street Eats today, looking forward to the decor and the indo-fusion snacks. The visit was somewhat of a disappointment. The place is very fun, the decor is eccentric and very instagrammable (backdrop and chai decor scattered in every corner). This is a reach but the bench seats are not comfortable at all. We were not seated or greeted, we just stood there confused until we walked in to ask what the wait would be like to get seated. We managed to get a table, and finally settled to order a south indian cappucino, and a rose chai. We also ordered allo paratha, chicken lollipop and keema samosa.
We got our rose chai first, the aloo parathas, then the samosas and it took quite a while to get my cappucino. Granted that it was busy but it made it impossible to enjoy the tea with the snacks. They seemed scatterbrained back there but the staff were very friendly. The aloo parathas were definitely frozen and not fresh made and the samosas were wrapped in tortilla instead of being a samosa made from scratch, stuffing was generous but the casing was a shame. Both orders rlly dimmed the experience. Then we realized that they were in no rush to bring out our chicken lollipops and since we realized that quite a few families wanted to come in and get their turn to sit and get served we decided to leave with out our chicken lollipop order.
Our beverages were average, nothing spectacular. The rose chai barely had rose in it and the cappucino was just alright.
Their parking wasn’t the greatest but they do have a lot right by the meat shop next door. Also their name is very confusing, their name is paradise high tea also paradise street eats, and paradise cafe? Or just high tea indo-fusion. I think that confusion needs to be cleared up and they don’t come up on facebook check-ins
Overall if you’re an IG connoisseur, go ahead and visit just to get some pictures holding a cup of chai but otherwise this place isn’t...
Read moreI was excited to try this cafe as I'd seen beautiful photos on Instagram but sadly it was a disappointment. While the decor, nachos and chai were all decent, here's why I am rating it lower: Discontinued menu items - to start out they handed each individual menu one by one after we asked for it as in the food, then drinks and then dessert menu. After ordering, the waiter came back and let us know the kashmiri chai had been discontinued while there was no indication of this on their menu. When we ordered dessert, he came back to our table and told us the entire back side of the dessert menu was discontinued. Are you kidding me?! If you don't make those drinks and dishes anymore, please remove from your menu. Chipped glass chai cup - as my sister was drinking her chai she realized her glass was chipped and almost cut her lip on it. While the waiter did take it away, I'd appreciate if the cafe was more careful. A chipped glass is so dangerous! Lastly, the falooda was missing key ingredients. It had no vermicelli or fruit like it showed in the picture and in the list of menu ingredients.
I was really hoping for a nice experience at a Desi cafe especially since there's such a small number of these in Michigan. I hope they learn from their mistakes and serve their guests better...
