Downtown Cafe and Bakery — Restaurant in Decatur

The food sells this place. Also the speed of the kitchen. Even when it's been busy, food came quickly. Wait staff is just okay. Can tell they don't get paid enuf. Have had one waitress that was subpar and one that was a 7/10. Like I said, pay them more. They are worth it. Had the French Toast (10/10), Veggie Omelet (10/10), hash browns-shredded & cubed (8/10), eggs, toast n ham all cooked perfect and served hot (9/10). Another visit had a basic ham, egg n cheese on white bread (8/10-coulda been seasoned a lil bit). 2 Big Pancakes (12/10-they were HUGE) and hash browns (again 8/10) and bacon (9/10-cooked nicely). Inside restaurant definitely needs a facelift but who really cares if ur coming to eat and not for visuals/entertainment?! All in all, a once a week spot for me!!! Great special during early mornings. I believe $7 deal. My visits were between $30 - $35. Well worth it for 2 people to eat WITH a drink. Serving sizes were normal for breakfast spots. We did not have a great experience here. Came in on a Sunday at 9ish and they were busy but we snagged a table right away and placed our order. The waitress that took our order was friendly and she got to us quickly. Then it kinda went down hill. We waited about 45 minutes for our food (table of 4, 2 kids). I had ordered an egg white omelet with no cheese and it came out with cheese. Which no big deal it happens but the attitude from the (different) waitress was completely rude. Like how dare I send something back that they made incorrectly. And I’m 100% sure I asked for no cheese because I can’t eat it. I waitressed my way through high school, college and grad school so I like to think I’m not an a-hole in these types of situations. A simple “oh sorry let me have that remade” would have been the appropriate reaction.

The food is great, but the waitress Rita is not so great. She did me wrong and it was not my fault. I need to talk to the owner about this because I used to go there all of the time. I ased for some Carmel creamer ( I was told another waitress bought it and I gave her some money for it) I asked Rita if I could get a little and she lied to me and said it was her friends which was a lie.
