Visited Hotshots for the first time with my family. It opened in Decatur within the past two months. It was not the best of visits, but the restaurant has potential.
One of my family members with me was my 18 month old grandson. Unfortunately, the restaurant had no high chairs or booster seats. We almost left, but stayed. The grandson had to sit on an adult’s lap and eat. Not the best start.
The server was friendly and welcoming. She was slow to bring drinks and slower to refill them. In fact, the water drinkers had to wait for the server to take an empty glass to the back, refill it and return. Too many wasted steps went into this process. Bringing a pitcher to the table for refills would have been better.
The food was so, so. The Nachos were good. The beef had a nice kick and it was garnished nicely. However, I had ordered chicken nachos. I did not complain or request a refund.
The appetizer sampler platter had overcooked ravioli and mini tacos. The tater tots were good. The honey glaze on the boneless wings was flavorful, but the wings were tough.
The staff was friendly. The manger gave us free fries for no apparent reason than to be nice. I appreciated the gesture, as did the grandson.
This could become a nice sports bar. There are many mounted flat screens throughout the restaurant. They were on and showing a variety of games. The back room has pool tables and dart boards. It could give the other local sports bars a run for the money if service and food quality improve.
I see potential in the Decatur Hotshots. I will return in 30 to 45 days to see if there is...
Read moreFood is garbage, pizza and burgers, and wings all make you sick. Health department needs to investigate this building. Management is rude, hardly speaks English, upon talking to employees, owner of the establishment is always absent. Listening to the girls when I come in complaining about how the owner steals money from employees and all kinds of things. Bathrooms are usually a mess, smells bad, bar is always sticky, floors make sticky noises, trash in corners of the restaurant. A sad establishment indeed. Whoever runs the place, is an idiot as it's not always been this way, I recall about a month ago, me and my wife came to give the place one more try, the food was pretty good, looked great, tasted great, young man by the name of William brought out the food, was very informative and very polite and a hard working young man. The server called off that day and the bartender got sick and he had to run around and do everything including cooking our food. A real bright spot for hotshots that's for sure. Was very disappointed to come in last night on Christmas day only to find out they had fired him! I don't think this establishment will be around much longer. Don't go eat at...
Read moreI stopped by HotShots Bar & Grill around 3 PM and was impressed right from the moment I walked in. The service was quick—someone greeted me as soon as I stepped through the door, and within the first 30 minutes, I noticed the management (Drew) making their rounds, personally checking in with customers. That kind of attention to detail is always a good sign.
The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. The music was playing at just the right volume—not too loud, not too quiet—and the lighting set a chill vibe without being too dim. Even though it was a slower time of day, the place still had a welcoming energy that made me want to hang out longer.
Food came out fast and hot, just the way it should. My drink was perfectly mixed with the right balance—no heavy hand on the liquor or syrupy mess. And I’ve gotta give a shoutout to Bri, the bartender. She was amazing—friendly, on top of things, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’ll be...
