If you are interested in the history of the US Civil War, 19th century American history, you need to visit this place. Many original pieces from the Oglesby family. What isn't original is recreated according to the original to preserve the historic presence. Ulysses S. Grant stayed here once. The governor was a contemporary and friend of Lincoln. My children and I are fascinated by old Architecture, and our tour guide did a fantastic job making it all come to life and holding my 3 and 6 year olds attention for over an hour. Blew my mind. I am so glad that 2 ladies awhile ago got it stuck in their head to save this house. My children and I are fascinated by old Architecture, and our tour guide did a fantastic job making it all come to life and holding my 3 and 6 year olds attention for over an hour. Blew my mind. This is definitely a must stop, if you are in town during their open hours. Plan on 1-2 hours.
