Mellow Mushroom Decatur — Restaurant in Decatur

If I could give zero stars I would!! My granddaughters had a dance recital in the Princess Theater last night. Needed to get her and my wife something to eat as they had been there for rehearsals all afternoon and the recital started at 7 pm. Went down the street to the Mellow Mushroom to order a take out pizza for them. The nice lady at the bar took my order at 5:23 pm. Said it would be 20-25 minutes. Told her no problem. After 25 minutes I thought I better check because a lot of pizzas had been made and one in a go box was sitting on the counter. She checked and said mine was still cooking. No problem. After waiting an additional 30 minutes with no pizza and watching at least 7 small ones go out to the tables I asked again. She checked again and still nothing. I could tell it was bothering her because she kept going back to the cooking area and talking to the guys working there. Finally she came and gave me the bill saying it would be coming out soon. I paid her (even went so far as to leave a 20% tip because it wasn't her fault). Waited another 5 minutes (total now over 50 minutes) and still nothing. That was enough. Called the manager over told her what was going on and that I just wanted my money back. She voided my charge and I left -- empty handed and VERY frustrated. Love this place! Not Originally from the region and didn’t realize this was a chain at first. We were so Impressed with the menu and service at the Decatur Mellow Mushroom that when we DID realize it was a chain, we decided to try every one we could. We’ve been to one in Huntsville and one in Chattanooga, and while the menu was obviously the same and the atmosphere similar, they couldn’t touch the Decatur MM. I had the Elevated Cobb salad at the Huntsville location and it felt like eating a sad salad while everyone else enjoyed the pizza I really wanted. Not so at the Decatur location! Everything was cut just so right that every bite was delicious- thoughtful prep makes such a difference! If I’m ever going to bother eating pizza, The Great White Way is the pizza I dream about. The crust, the toppings… so good. My whole family also really loves the pretzel bites, especially with jalapeño added. The atmosphere is fun, but it’s a little bit loud for me- that’s not a Decatur issue, it’s an MM thing from what I can tell. Nothing out of the ordinary, on par with something like Buffalo wild Wings, but not my idea of relaxing. That said, it does make it comfortable with a bunch of kids who might otherwise be disruptive in a louder establishment! Terrible people there. I was eating out with a group of friends and I ended up dropping a $100 bill near the computer next to their bar while I was waiting to pay. I didn't realize it was missing until about an hour after I left MM when my friend had told me about a $100 bill he found next to the cash register as he was paying and turned it in to our waitress who was taking care of our bill. That's when I checked my pockets and it realized it was gone! I called MM asap and a manager answered and told me nothing was turned in and that they would check cameras the next day and give me a call back. I waited until 2:30pm the next day to call them back and was immediately told they were too busy and they would call me back and was hung up on. A day passes and no call. My gf decides to call them around 530pm and the same story, they're going to check the cameras and would get back to her the next day at the latest. It was been nearly 3 days since then and we haven't been contacted yet. They have done nothing about it and I don't have time in my day to drive there and complain in person. It's ridiculous.
