Little Havana Restaurant — Restaurant in Deerfield Beach

Today was the 2nd time me and my brother came to this restaurant. First time we went everything was great the server was very attentive to us and so were the ladies who give out the bread and drinks. However this time was not great nor excellent at all which was very disappointing. The hostess sat us outside on the high top and we waited 10 minutes for the server to bring the bread and didn’t even ask us what to drink. She kept passing by our table as if we weren’t there. We waited another good 15 minutes to the point that I got up from the table and went inside to ask the hostess if someone was planning on taking our order. She called the waiter that was in the kitchen doing whatever. He arrived at the table not even a greeting and he just stared at us. I look at my brother like really...so we order the drinks and at the same time the food so we didn’t have to wait anymore. HOWEVER the food took waaaayyyy too long. I had to signal another waitress to brings us more bread while we waited for the food. My brother had his appetizer a few seconds before the food arrived to the table. As soon as the food arrived we had to ask OUR WAITER for refills because the waitress WAS ALWAYS INSIDE SOMEWHERE. Every time she walked outside I called out to her and she would walk past us and ignore us. Our second refill the machine was running low on syrup and it felt like drinking watered down soda. The food was not excellent and it was room temperature almost cold wasn’t even hot. Me and my brother lost our appetite after 5 minutes we ended up leaving food to go which we never do. Our waiter as soon as he saw that we were packing our food he brought the receipt so he could go back inside. I don’t think we will ever go back if that is how we will be treated again. This was my first time at the restaurant but came with others that had been here a couple times.

Let me start with the food was excellent and everyone (all 5 of us) really enjoyed the food. 3 of us got various shrimp dishes and they were all cooked perfectly with large shrimp in delicious sauces. The shrimp were large and not overcooked. 5 stars for the food.

We came on a Friday night about 6:30pm and the place was very busy, but we didn't wait long. We accepted an outside table and were seated pretty quickly with water and yummy bread delivered within a minute or two. After 10 minutes or maybe even a bit longer, no waiter/waitress had stopped by to take our drink/food orders, so I asked one of the staff walking by to please send someone over. Another 2 or 3 minutes passed and a waitress came over to take our order. She wasn't rude the entire time but she wasn't really pleasant/friendly either.

The inside looked great for atmosphere, but we were outside a couple tables away from the main entrance (~25 ft) and there was a constant crowd (sometimes 20 people or more) right outside the front entrance smoking. There is a better spot further away from the outside seating that the restaurant should encourage smoking by moving seating to that area a bit further from those dining.

The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time and was excellent. It took asking twice to get some drink orders filled.

It was busy and we could have been there on an off night for service, but it wasn't very good. None of that takes away from the excellent food though and we'd go back again, though not at an outside table within 50 ft of the entrance should there be...

Subject: Disappointing 80th Birthday Experience

I recently visited your restaurant with my family to celebrate my 80th birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing.

While the waitstaff were attentive, the quality of the food and overall service left much to be desired. The bread served was stale — clearly old mini Cuban breads, not the traditional warm, toasted bread with butter we were expecting. Our meals arrived just five minutes after ordering, raising concerns about freshness. My steak was cold, rubbery, and tasted reheated. I sent it back, but the replacement was equally unpleasant.

The most upsetting part of the evening happened after we paid. My grandson had given me a sealed birthday card containing a gift card, which I accidentally left on the table. When I returned just minutes later, the card was gone. I asked multiple staff members, and no one claimed to have seen it. I insisted on waiting until it was found. After about five minutes, my card was finally returned — but it had been aggressively torn open, and the plastic wrapper from the enclosed gift card had been removed. This was incredibly upsetting, as the card had been unopened and intact when I left it.

This was meant to be a joyful milestone celebration, but it turned into a frustrating and disheartening experience. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address the issues — especially the handling of lost property — so that no other customer has to go through...
