Kini Koffee — Restaurant in Del Mar

The positive is that the location's ambiance and view is beautiful. I went today with my husband and ordered a Churro and Chai Latte. After paying, my husband had a question regarding the Matcha and its ingredients and it was so odd to see the barista became snappy. In a very condescending tone, she said, "What? You mumble". Even though I was standing off to the side, I heard his question and the couple behind him heard and looked at her shocked and said we heard him perfectly. We were taken back but brushed it off and didn't say anything even though that was an absurd way to speak to someone. It was a little before 10am and there was only one couple behind us and virtually no one else in the outdoor space. I noticed she never acknowledged the couple behind us and made our drinks. When she called out that my Chai was ready, I picked it up. A couple minutes went by and when the second drink was ready, she called out both drinks by their name. Confused, I thought maybe we accidentally ordered 2 Chai Lattes. I asked her about it and in the same tone she said, "I called out two drinks because I'm not paying attention to you". It was so shocked to hear someone interact like this. I told her, "You're very rude" and she said "ahhh, I hope your day gets better". I handed back her drinks and asked for a refund. Thankfully she gave me that without hesitation. The couple behind me, who was never acknowledged, walked away. My hope is that the owner has cameras and is able to see how their employee interacts with customers and see the interaction with her own eyes. Luckily the bakery Paris En Rose was opening for business and we were still able to enjoy drinks, a friendly human and the ambiance of that beautiful...

Kini Coffee is my absolute favorite and it's just the most darling little coffee bar! The location is dreamy...on top of Del Mar Plaza with an amazing view of the ocean! They have a lovely menu and everything looks delicious! To be fair, I do not drink coffee, but I drink everything else there, and all of the drinks are ALWAYS yummy (think specialized chai tea lattes, cocoa and warm cider)! All of the staff is amazing, and Gemma is my absolute favorite barista! She is lovely and helpful and always creates delicious drinks for me! She makes me feel like a very special visitor every time I visit and she always remembers everyone's favorite orders! ! When I bring my kiddos, they have a blast playing table tennis right next to Kini Coffee and Gemma always helps with replacing wayward balls! Don't hesitate, just go...

This coffee cart is situated on the roof deck of the Del Mar Plaza. There's lots of tables and lawn chairs in or out of the shade. There's even games like corn hole and ping pong.

In addition to their regular coffee menu (black, cappuccino, macchiato, etc), they offer a selection of specialty lattes which really appeal to a non-coffee drinker like me. I ordered the iced cinnamon toast latte, which is a chai latte with honey and cinnamon. It was good, but a little too sweet. It was also $9 for a 16oz cup, which I think is overpriced.
