Update I guess they are trying, but still not the greatest service. The restaurant was half full with a lobby full of people waiting, they attempt to seat several parties and all the empty tables were dirty. They cleaned them but just seemed super disorganized. Was seated and waited on by the manager, you think the service would be a level up. We felt rushed, she was short with us and never checked on us (we had to flag her down).
In any case, normally we enjoy our Keke's visit, and are creatures of habit. I get a burger or omelet, and my wife gets a benedict (she always asked for extra hollandaise sauce). My mom joined us and she ordered a 2 egg meal, the manager asked toast or english muffin, my mom went with the english muffin, manager asked butter ok? My mom replied no, cream cheese on the side please. I ordered the burger and asked for a side of onion rings, the manager asked do you want the rings instead of the chip/fries the meal comes with, I said yes that's fine. At no time did the manager reference upcharge for anything we requested.
The bill comes and it included a $2 charge for the hollandaise sauce, the sauce they brought was a 2 oz container, .50 for the cream cheese and a full side order charge for the onion rings $3.49. When we raise this to the manager that we've never been charged for these items in the past, she replied we've always charged, and it's on the menu. 1st off, we've never been charged, and 2ndly, it's not on the menu. The menu states there may be a charge for substitutions. The manager did remove the items, but definitely left a funny taste in our mouths. The burger meal comes with fries or chips, if I ask for a side of onion rings I fully expect to be charged the full side amount, but when you offer to include the rings in place of the meal's side, I expect an up charge.. not for you not to include the included item and then bill me for the side.
It all just seemed shady and very nickel n dime-ing...
Read moreIf you’re ever in DeLand and craving a breakfast that feeds your soul as much as your stomach, do yourself a favor and head straight to Keke’s Breakfast Café. My visit there was nothing short of amazing — not just because of the food (which was incredible, by the way), but because of the people who made it unforgettable.
First off, a huge shoutout to Steph, the manager. From the moment I walked in, you could feel the warmth in the atmosphere, and it was clear that her leadership sets the tone. Steph doesn’t just manage the place — she curates an experience. Her energy, attention to detail, and the way she checked in on tables with genuine care was the kind of hospitality that’s become too rare these days.
Then there’s Alexis and Ava, two absolute gems of servers. Alexis brought a lightness to our table with her bright smile and quick wit, while Ava’s attentiveness made us feel like we were the most important people in the room. Together, they’re a dynamic duo — professional, kind, and incredibly efficient. You can tell they love what they do, and it shows in every interaction.
As for the food? Picture fluffy Belgian waffles, eggs cooked to perfection, and fruit so fresh it felt like it was picked that morning. Every bite was a reminder of why breakfast is the best meal of the day.
Bottom line: Whether you're a local or just passing through, Keke’s in DeLand is a must-visit. With Steph running the show and Alexis and Ava making sure you’re taken care of like family, you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning...
Read moreWe like Keke's, just not this one so much. We gave them three tries, all when they were not super busy. First one was only three weeks after they opened. So we decided that the cold food, over easy eggs that came out as over cooked scrambled and lack of service was because they were still finding their groove. Our second time we were seated and after about 5 minutes no one came for our drink order. Then a waitress that didn't have our table stopped and said she would get our drinks. What surprised us was that the girl that was our actual waitress stopped the girl that was getting us drinks and had words about why she was waiting on her table. She then proceeded to tell her that she could just have our table. That was great because we got great service after that. Thanks Jay, and that conformation should never take place in front of customers. As we were looking around we kept seeing what appeared to be the manager, hostess and our old waitress hanging out at the hostess stand. Seemed like they had their own click going on. Our orders were also cooked correctly this vist. On our third vist (about 3 months since opening) service was good but the food came out cold. We will try them again one day, hopefully they will get their act together. Seems like they need some adjustments in management. Totally different experience then the Keke's in Sanford...
