Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in DeLand

I came in here today to pick up a mobile order at the brand new tropical café and it’s the one in Deland next to Verizon right next to that Publix plaza. The reason I’m being so specific with the location is because I also want to share specifics on my experience. Upon entering I was greeted which is great and I felt fine with that greeting as if they had truly acknowledged that there was a customer inside the building I then went up to the counter and proceeded to tell them about my mobile order. Now the woman did acknowledge the fact that I had a mobile order and that they were still working on it which is completely fine with me I can understand her a new company and they’ve also been extremely busy, But what happened next was completely rude and for that I decided to write a review. My very first review I’ve ever written for any company even after having not so nice experiences in the past with different companies. I was met with the opportunity to approach the counter once more after about 10 minutes and ask for the status of the order in which I did. When I asked for the status three customers looked at me with a puzzled look, and then one of them named Karina went to go grab the order, when Karina brought me the order which was already done minutes before without my knowledge or me being notified that it was done she essentially threw the order into my hands even though I had kept a smiling manner and a friendly attitude towards her and the rest of the other employees. I shop in that plaza a lot And I usually never run into problems with anybody in the area of Deland, I feel as though because I have a background working for food service and people service it is important and extremely Essential to treat everyone especially customers who are helping to pay your paychecks...

As much as we love tropical smoothie, this is by far one of the worst we have ever been to. Any time we attempt to online order (at least 4 occasions) our order has been incorrect. Cheese quesadillas without chicken requested by added anyways, mocha madness smoothies with peanut butter requested but banana added instead, chicken chipotle flatbread without Romain and tomatoes but other items randomly missing.

Overall the quality of ordered items is anything but acceptable. And on numerous occasions promised fixes yet even those were incorrect. This location is amazing and the chain is amazing but this locations quality control leaves loads to be desired. I would go out of my way to find another location before returning at this point.

We’ve given chances to work out kinks, at this point it’s poor service.

Edit: 8 month update. The quality and service is still terrible. Food is never ready when the smoothies are, it’ll be a fruit drink by the time the food is done. Even so much as ordering a pesto flatbread and receiving a chicken bacon ranch inside of a pesto...

When I first saw the advertisement in the mail I was very excited. The menu items appeared to great! Seems like there was enough options to please the different taste styles of my family.

I love how you can customize your smoothie and receive a discounted special for both a sandwich and a smoothie. Not only can you Pre-order your items from website, you can also order from the Android and apple App before going to the cafe. Locations are all over Florida, so when traveling through the state you are sure to be somewhat near a Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

Why 3 star's? Despite the hefty size of wrap and smoothie, it came with a hefty price. The amount you get is double the average proportion. One meal of wrap and smoothie could feed two people and the nutrition value was through the roof! To have a healthy lunch, I would have to cut the proportion into thirds. 1/3 would surely leave me unsatisfied and hungry.

Though the health benefits are not what it appears, the food taste great and offer's something different from the norm. Still heathier...
