Rincon del Sabor — Restaurant in DeLand

Not even sure where to begin. I came on a Sunday around 4pm. there is only 1 sandwich, Cuban sandwich is the only sandwich they offer. Now they have their food displayed where you can see what is being offered. This is not a restaurant where you sit and they take your order. Now from what I can see the yellow rice was obviously undercooked. The white rice however, looked perfectly cooked. They didn't have many sides to choose from. Yellow sweet banana. tostones that looked stale. steamed veggies however they didn't look inviting. The rotisserie chicken looked good. The pork had just came out. It looked properly cooked but it looked flavorless. The rest of the meat did not look appealing. So with that being said I felt I had only one choice for my order. So I went with the cuabn sandwich. I asked for a cuban all the way. Well to my surprise their cuban is not real cuban. I was informed that it doesn't come with lettuce nor tomato. So I asked if I could add lettuce and tomatoes. I was told no. I could order a salad and put it in my sandwich myself. I opt out. They sandwich was dry. It didn't even have mayonnaise. The pork was bland. Worst cuban I've had in a long time. My 3 star review is based on the food I ordered and not on how the displayed food looked. If that's the case I would have given...

First the Food is very good but the customer service needs a lot of work. I called my food order in for lunch and needed to get it kinda fast, The person took my order said it would be ready in 5 mins, I showed up in 10 mins and told them I called my order in, gave my name and what I ordered.... the lady at the counter seemed BAFFLED... so the young helper asked me again and i told him I called a PHONE ORDER in and it should be ready. They both looked at me with questioned look and I said thats okay here is my order..... no one was in line but me so I said go ahead and just make me my order please. Both people behind the counter were just seemed baffled so I told the young helper grab a container put the this and that in there , forget about the order I called in bc i have no idea what happened here but I need to just grab it and go... he finally did what I asked. When I got back home I checked my last call and verified I called the correct restaurant to place my order ... thus giving this honest review. I was not rushing , nor was i rude, i was just surprised they did not know what to do about...

We had them cater our CHRISTmas dinner with family. It was perfect! The pork hardly had any fat on it! We all really enjoyed it. My son even took some of the leftovers home with him for his lunches. Everything tasted great!

UPDATE: Just had dinner from here today and it wasn't as good as they can be. Most of the food was good but the Papa rellena was not good. It was over cooked and burnt on the bottom. We had to throw part of it away. Why when someone in the restaurant see that and take it back to show the cook? That shouldn't be put out there to sell. They need to have a high standard for all their foods. So they will have continued customers coming back for more. I know if I order another papa rellena I will have to look at it before pay for it. It's too bad because I know they can do better. They did a great job for our family CHRISmas party. But unfortunately not this time. I called and let them know and all he said is he would pass on the message to the people in the back. I had to take...
