Parking was easy, strip mall, plenty of parking. We came in before normal human dinner time. The place is a pretty large. It has a dance floor with a stage & a disco ball. It also has a pretty large bar with over 30 different tequila selections. The server greeted us at the door, we chose to sit at the bar. The service was friendly, but not the most attentive. They managed to forget things like an order of guacamole, and to bring the to go containers. We were taken care of by the server the whole time. The bartender mostly avoided contact with us for some reason. It was a slightly uncomfortable feeling in there because of this.
We all ordered the house margs. They were decent, def had a dose of that tart heartburn we all know and love. Just kidding, I'm not a big automatic heartburn fan. The salt on the glass resembled a slush that slowly dripped into your drank. This surprised me a bit, but it did actually get a little better as it went on. We did shots of Avion Anejo @ $7 for a soft pour. Neither great nor terrible. That cabinet they keep it in makes it really hot though.
Guac....light green in color, cool temperature, strong on the onion side. So strong on the onion side that this should be called onion guac for reals. The texture was a weird creamy gelatinous texture. We will throw this down there in the bottom of what I've tried so far. This could be my least favorite. Chips...fried hard and can handle any dip. I enjoyed them just fine. Salsa...cool temperature, pureed medium, but had a really rough chipotle after taste. I personally am not a fan of that particular taste & believe it should be outlawed.
We ordered: Taquitos con Guacamole $7.99. You already know about the guac. They also brought out a creamy sour cream sauce. Oh man this was sooooo good with the taquitos! The chicken inside was moist, flavorful, and just straight up delicious. This is an excellent appetizer choice & I will def stop back in for it.
My sis ordered: EMPANADAS -(3 Per order) $8.99 Handmade fried empanadas filled with chicken or picadillo. Served with salad. She chose the picadillo...I tried it and thought it was solid. It had a good fried texture and the meat inside was tasty. It was even better when I had the leftovers later. She didn't like it, saying it tasted smokey to her.
I ordered: OUR FAMOUS TACOS-$2.00 Each. Soft corn tortilla with your choice of meat, garnished with onion and cilantro. I chose steak, carnitas, and al pastor. Steak...was marinated to perfection and melted in your mouth. The only thing that stopped this beautiful steak from being the best were the tortillas. I was not a fan at all, they need to step their tortilla game up a notch for sure. Al Pastor...wasn't anything special, no pineapple, no likey. Carnitas....excellent, moist, such a good flavor. They aint no Compadres, but they do a pretty darn good job.
I ordered: TORTA-$8.00(The Mexican Sandwich) Mexican roll, filled with mayo, beans, your choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and jalapeño peppers. I went with the breaded chicken. This torta really stood out to me as the best that I've ever had. That thinly sliced chicken was fried to perfection and everything inside was like a party in your mouth. I will grab another when I'm in the...
Read moreI normally don't like to complain but this haves been one of the worst experience that my family and I had. I used to work as a waitress and I work as management but the service here was horrible. The waitress never bought the correct beverage, we waited to long just for the drinks . Food looked great but one of my brother order a Torta and 2 Tacos , the waitress was confused saying "you really ordered that?" . We waited another 5 to 10 minutes for his food. My other brother wanted more tortillas for his meal, they never came with the tortillas , well the waitress showed up 15 minutes later when we were ready to go. We just wanted to pay and leave. My family and I were just there and one little corner and nobody was paying attention to us and it was supposed to be Father's day . My mom was very disappointed. We would definitely not come in here to celebrate a family event...
Read moreStopped by today (Saturday, around 4pm) because I love Mexican food and I was curious about this place. Party of one. Took a minute to get seated, then once seated I was completely ignored. The restaurant wasn't crowded. One waitress in particular passed me multiple times to wait on other tables; this was clearly on purpose. I couldn't help but wonder if this was racially motivated, as I was the only non-Hispanic person in the dining room. After about 15 minutes a (very nice) female bartender came over and took my order.
I ordered a chicken chimichanga with a side of rice. The chimichanga itself was good, nice size. The salad was unimpressive and so was the side of rice. I also ordered a sweet tea that wasn't sweet nor tasted like tea. At any rate, the price point was fair, but I won't...
