La Parrillada Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Pennsville Township

Today for lunch my mom & I decided to try this place out because we saw good things on the internet. My quesabirria tacos were good ! My mom’s empanadas weren’t that flavorful (to me) but she liked them. I enjoyed my quesabirra tacos so much I ordered some to go. When we were finished eating, the waitress came to our table for us to pay & I paid. I asked for a receipt & she said she would give it to me when I came back for my takeout order. When I returned there was still no receipt, I asked for the receipt again & noticed there was a 20% “large party” gratuity. My mom & I went to the register & asked our waitress about this “large party” fee since it was just my mother & I (2 people, but the receipt says 6 people) She said it’s something they add onto every order. But we were never told that before ordering or before paying. Before we noticed this fee we left a cash tip on the table. My mom told the waitress that’s something they need to start telling people before they pay/ leave a tip & said we probably wont be returning & the waitress said okay. When I first walked in, I was slightly disappointed that it wasn’t more “festive”. Wasn’t really sure what to order so I picked some tacos that looked like empanadas but cheesy and greasy. I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I like cheese and grease so I went with it.

OMG that was THE BEST 3 tacos I ever had in my life - and I lived in Los Angeles for 10 years where Mexican Food is a staple!! OMG the cheese! the grease! the perfect crunch! I can’t remember the name of them. It like Barr…something. But when I tell you - every day since I tried them here, I have been craving them. If I didn’t have an electric car that I had to worry about always charging, I would have been back many times (and it’s only been like a month since I last went). SO MY WIFE WANTED TO TRY THIS RESTAURANT BC SHE HEARD THEY HAVE GOOD BIRRIA RAMEN. SO WE WENT ON SUNDAY AFTER CHURCH 10-13-24 WE ASK FOR ICE WATER NO LEMON THEY HAVE $3 NASTY DASANI WATER SO I DONT DRINK THAT BRAND SOI GOT A CAN OF SPRITE WHICH ALSO WAS $3 SO MY WIFE GOT THE RAMEN I GOT THE BIRRIA TACOS ASKED FOR NO CHEESE. BUT IT STILL HAD CHEESE. FOOD WAS VERY BLAND ! SO THEN THE SERVER ASKED IF WE WERE READY FOR THE CHECK. WE SAID YES. SHE STOOD THERE AND SAID $45. SO I SAID TO MY WIFE $17 PLUS $15 AND 2 DRINKS DONT EQUAL $45!!, I ASKED THE SERVER WERE IS THE BILL SHE SAID IDK SHE IS HOLDINHG A DEVICR YOU USE TO PAYC AND I ASKED HOW.IS IT $45.
