I had high hopes for this place, so I decided to try it out. I ordered 1 each of Fried Fish Taco, Blackened Shrimp Taco & Veggie Taco. After getting them home, approx. 10 mins away, I opened each & took a picture before any consumption. Here is how I found each:
⢠Fried Fish Taco was fried, but also pulled/smashed open in the tortilla (see photo) Fish appeared to be cooked, however smothered in toppings so any crispiness (presumed so because it said âfriedâ) faded away to sogginess. Edible, but lacking. ⢠Blackened Shrimp was not blackened AT ALL, and seemed to be barely cooked. That was disappointing. The portion of toppings given w/ each taco (cabbage, cheese, âgreen crackâ) was more equal in this taco than the others, so I wound up putting the shrimp in a pan to blacken for a short bit before putting it back in the taco, Added a little sour cream & hot sauce as well, that combo was tasty. ⢠Veggie Taco was simply as listed on the menu, nothing fancy, and I added fresh jalapenos for an extra kick. The Red Cabbage on this one was overwhelming, and I tried to take some off however the melted cheese made that impossible to separate.
Please note: if you LOVE the 'green crack' they use, do know they give GENEROUS portions on the tacos. So much so, it may overpower other ingredients used.
You can't get give half stars, but I'd give 2.5/5. I know they get busy and they tried, but the price for these kinds of tacos isn't worth it (perhaps $2-$3) If youâre going to charge almost $4 or $5 a taco, please up the standards. My friend received a chicken quesadilla, and said that came out 'just ok' (edible but flimsy.) Iâm willing to try one more time but, sadly, this experience...
Read moreThis is more like a 2.5 star but google reviews doesnât allow half stars. Coming from Northern Virginia, there are some excellent taco spots which have set the bar on proper taco execution. The tacos at Grab and Go are average at best, even by beach standards. I was shocked after seeing the long line, but then again, not a lot of taco spots in Fenwick.
All the tacos are wrapped tightly in foil and end up being more of a roll up than a taco. Not my preferred style. Theyâre also on the small side
All the tacos are rather simplistic with âgreen crackâ (green avocado sauce), cheese, and shredded cabbage.
Fried fish taco- fish was dry, batter missed a good crunch, flavor was average. 2/5
Blackened shrimp- Fish tasted fresh and well seasoned. With better complimenting toppings, this could have been a 4.5, but overall 3.5/5
Tuna- Easily the biggest taco and best executed taco. 2 small tuna steaks cooked medium and tasty blackened seasoning. Again, the toppings are lacking. 4/5
Steak- Ginger soy marinated steak. Average flavor, the cuts werent the most tender. 2.5/5
Chicken- ginger soy marinated chicken. Average flavor, redundant toppings. 3/5
Chips- Stale, just stale chips. Not enjoyable. 1/5
Guacamole- Probably the best tasting item I ordered, very good guac. 5/5
Side of Salsa- more of a ground or paste style salsa. I prefer a chunkier, pico style salsa, but it had great flavor and well balanced. 4/5
Value- Typical beach pricing, expensive for what you get. 2/5
Grab and Go Taco was fun to try once, but I wont be...
Read moreFirst off, they donât serve tacos, they serve snack wraps. Very American snack wraps. And they are overpriced at $5.00 each. Which might be acceptable if they had multiple toppings and a good helping of meat. These snack wraps had a small amount of meat, red cabbage, sharp cheddar cheese, and what they call âgreen crack.â Apparently green crack is a blend of sour cream, avocados, cilantro and something else but Iâll have to take their word for it since they put next to none of it on any of my snack wraps. Honestly it kinda felt like someone just sneezed in my taco, but with less flavor. I tried the chicken, steak, and shrimp (blackened) snack wraps. The shrimp snack wrap barely had any flavor But I ate it because I was hungry. I assume the fried shrimp would have tasted better but they didnât offer it as an option when I ordered. The chicken snack wrap had decent flavor. They prepared the chicken pretty well since it wasnât dry and had a nice flavor to it. Unfortunately, the snack wrap had no extra flavor to compliment the chicken. The steak snack wrap honestly tasted rancid. I donât know how they seasoned it but it was just bad. The cheese wasnât melted on any of the tacos.
Save your money on the snack wraps. They arenât worth it. No flavor, bad choice of toppings, and terrible serving sizes. Itâs possible the quesadillas are better but i doubt it If they use sharp cheddar on those as well. Sharp cheddar is a bad idea for this type of food and doesnât go with literally ANY...
