Update: reached out to them on Facebook like their responses recommend, and have not gotten a single response. We are now in the negative stars, folks. Ordered through the Poke Bros app. Went in, grabbed the order, and ran back out. It was ready fairly quickly. I saw some other reviews about the toppings not being available for all the bowls, which I don't understand. When ordering through the app, the Johnny Utah had the option to add crunchy toppings but the High Tide didn't give you the option. Not sure why, but found that disappointing. Never had an issue with this when ordering elsewhere.
Once I was home, my sister and I unpacked our meals. I've been to many Poke Bros locations and usually have a good experience, but when we saw the food we were immediately frustrated. The bowls we ordered (Johnny Utah & High Tide) were not even filled. Looked like a half portion of everything, and it was easily 1/2 the size of the bowls served in Newark. The shrimp on the High Tide also had multiple raw / weird textured pieces mixed in with it which was unpleasant. Pineapple tasted sour like it had spoiled.
In addition to this, I paid $4 extra for salmon to be added to my bowl, and it was not added to my meal. I tried calling multiple times to ask for a refund for the missing item, but their phone only rings twice and then disconnects. Super disappointed by this and won't be going back. $34.25 for the small portions and missing...
Read moreI ordered online, a tuna and salmon rice bowl with edamame, carrots, sweet onions, mango, and sriracha aioli. I have celiac so I noted a gluten allergy. Generally poke, sushi, etc. are safe bets as long as crunchy toppings and sauces with gluten (soy sauce, etc.) are avoided.
The food tasted pretty good and decently fresh! (Rice was a little bit dry.) But halfway through my meal, I bit down on something crunchy - I spat it out, and based on taste and appearance it was some kind of crispy topping. For most people not a big deal; for someone with celiac it's not great to find something unexpected in your meal, especially when it appears like it could be something with flour in it. At some point it's difficult to avoid that risk during the assembly process.
For those without allergies: Poke Bros. gets a solid 4 stars! Tasted pretty good, if a little pricey. But if you have celiac, skip it if you want to avoid...
Read moreSad experience. After dining here, I read some reviews that support what I experienced.
I adore my local Poke Bros in Dover De. AT THE DOVER POKE BROS location they always give a decent serving size of fresh food and are very accommodating to my requests about tempura on the side. They have many returning customers like myself.
At this location it was hard to communicate, with the push back, from the girl at the counter. She said no crunchy elements could be on the side. I wanted to buy a small portion of tempura for my toddler to snack on but the girl at the counter wouldn’t allow that option. She explained some stingy policy that obviously only applies to this location.
The food didn’t taste as fresh as my regular location. It was lackluster at best. I wouldn’t go back even for a free poke bowl.
I’m sad to post a bad review but it’s true…
