Indoor dining review

Not the best restaurant experience I've had. I came here because we were in the area and was hungry, but it ended up being a mistake. Maybe we should have ordered from sushi menu instead of kitchen menu.

Restaurant: 3/5 Service: 1/5 Food: 2/5 Parking: Free parking lot

Restaurant The restaurant itself looks pretty modern and the tables and chairs looks new. Also the decorations are nice. There was a bar on the left side as soon as you walk in. But unfortunately it is only nice looking on the surface, the hallway leading to the kitchen and bathroom was pretty messy, and the floor is dirty, one of the bathroom door will not lock.

Service The service was basically non-existent. Although we sat down almost immediately, the waitress couldn't care less even if she tried. She seemed very unhappy that we showed up on a busy night. Apparently she just wanted us to hurry and order the food, since she never bother to introduce herself, never checked on us to see if we needed anything else, never refilled our water.

Food The food is below average at best. And somehow they come out ALARMINGLY fast, that should have been our signal to walk out. What we ordered: -Grilled Chilean (Seabass) Sakana (I asked if it was fresh or frozen, I was told fresh, and the fish came out tasted just like frozen fish, especially after I just had fresh Chilean Seabass elsewhere recently. It came with clumpy cold rice, and some boiled vegetable with teriyaki sauce on top. For the price it was not worth it. -Kimchi Fried Rice (The rice dish itself tasted fine, but they used the same pre-cooked beef slices that are normally put in Lo Meins or other Chinese beef stir fried dishes. The texture of the beef was mushy, not pleasant). -Lettuce Wrap (it was a bit too salty for my taste)

Authentic Asian Cuisine? Far from it. Although the restaurant advertised itself as "Asian Fusion". It is more of Asian (Con)fusion. If you're into FAST food Asian fusion this is the place for you. But if you're into authentic Asian Cuisine, you're better off driving a little further to Philadelphia Chinatown or some other Asian restaurants...

Mediocre food, disappointing service. Fish seems to be fresh on Thursdays, but the rest of the week, good luck. Tables, chairs and floors are always visibly dirty with food waste and gunk. I've never dined in and not had to ask for the table to be wiped or all the crumbs to be brushed of the banquette.

Because of that I've stuck to takeout, but not thats a huge disappointment too.

Final straw was calling in takeout and arriving to find that the hostess never put the order in. She then told me she didn't remember my order and that I never called. As i showed her my call history (time, that the call was answered, call duration, etc.), she exclaimed that there is no way I called the right number. I hit redial on my call from earlier and the phone rings right there at the host stand. You'd think a natural reaction would be to apologize for the error and prepare the food as quickly as possible. Nope. She continued to explain that I never made the order. after waiting another 20mins for a new order, she refused to discount the order as a courtesy because ("this is a busy season, too busy to discount", "you never made the order to begin with, thats not my problem"). I explained she was losing a loyal customer (plus family and coworkers of mine) and she said "ok". Seems the concept of customer service is...

This restaurant is in the Fairfax Shopping Center on Concord Pike northbound, with southbound access at the traffic light intersection. I'm not too fond of this strip mall at lunchtime on weekdays because it does tend to get packed and parking is barely enough at times, but that was not a problem on this Friday.

The interior of Le Shio is dimly-lit and comfortable, although it's funny that they arranged the overhead lighting to light up the center of each table. That could only be for food photography! :)

Service was rather good this afternoon. Maybe I'm getting on in years and becoming a bit hard of hearing, but the staff seem to be overly soft-spoken. Even though the dining area was relatively quiet today, I found it rather difficult to hear them.

This could be an opinion forged by years of mediocre East Asian cuisine in this area, but I quite liked the salmon teriyaki bento box. The salmon was a decent portion size and the sauce and shu mai were tasty. Only the sushi part of the bento box wasn't terribly impressive. As a lunch special, the bento box wasn't overly expensive as well.

They have...

Saturday night out turned pretty sad..realized we’ll probably never eat here again :( We’ve been enjoying Leshio for years, sushi and entrees are always on point. Really, the only Asian place I trust around our area. Side note, last time we took out I did find a (dead) fruit fly in the pad thai but decided to not make it a thing because fruit fries aren’t too disturbing, right? Worms hit a little differently for me. There it laid staring at me, ridges still intact, found dead on the broccoli. MAN, I wanted this meal so BADLY. Couldn’t do it. They did comp the meal, but allowing something like this to happen in such a well established restaurant in Wilmington was super disappointing. Maybe this proves Leshio uses fresh vegetables, but make sure the pests don’t make it out on the table. I guess it’s back to Mikimotos…

Le Shio is conveniently located in the Fairfax shopping center, accessible from 202 both North and South bound. My wife and I have had sushi rolls for take out from here twice, so my experience is only with their rolls The price for the roll size is middling, but the quality of the food has always been quite good. We have enjoyed the California, Philly, Twin Tuna and Blackstone rolls (Twin Tuna and Blackstone photos included). Especially impressive (and I know this seems minor) is the pickled ginger. I'm sure it's from a jar or something but it's very good and tastes fresh, isn't overwhelming, and is a nice palate cleanser between rolls The price point is a but above a bargain, but you certainly won't be upset over what you paid for. Would recommend highly for sushi rolls in the area
