I am leaving a review that i thought i would never have to do for Ioannoni's. First a little back story...My Mother and brother came to Delaware to visit me back in October. After there drive they were in the mood for a very good cheese steak. So since i am a usual and right around the corner from Ioannoni's i recommended them simply because i feel they are the best around. we place our order and have dinner together and they loved them. Of course they did, whats not to love. Since October my Mother and brother has talked non stop about how delicious those cheese steaks were. So fast forward to today 1/3/2020 I am due to head south to Virginia to visit my Mother and brother. As a surprise i decided to get them cheese steaks as well as subs. I chose to not hit the road until after they opened to place and pick up the order instead of getting on the road much earlier. (PROBLEM#1). I called to place my order and a lady answered the phone eager to take my order so i thought. After telling her i needed my order made for travel she instantly asked me how many sandwiches. I responded with 6 and then she places me on hold, i sat on hold and could hear her talking in the back ground about random things not associated with work. (PROBLEM #2) Then after a few minutes a man picked up and said can i help you with a bit of an attitude. I responded with i was just placing and order with someone else and they put me on hold. He responded with can i help you with more of an attitude....Ah ok then, i place my order and reminded him that i requested that order made for travel and he suddenly got snippy with me and said i should have told him that before giving my order. I responded with i told the lady that started to take my order it was for travel. (i assume they communicate there) he says no, its fine. I am then told it would be ready in 30 minutes and then says, no 40 minutes to prep it for travel. fast forward 40 minutes i am now in the store standing and watching them make the last few sandwiches after i paid. I watch a lady make a sandwich and wrap it up and place it in my bag not prepped for travel. I assumed maybe i just didn't notice it being prepped right for travel. Once they were all done and the cashier handed me my bag i asked her, is this order prepped for travel? Because i noticed at least one looked as if it wasn't. she responded with yes of course it is. ok great thanks. i leave and hit the road. fast forward 5 hours and almost 300 miles later i find only two subs were prepped for travel and four cheese steaks were not, the rolls were soggy and funky. so a long story even longer 40 plus dollars went straight into the trash can, and my family is disappointed and we had to scramble to make dinner plans. This inst a knock against there food because i do think they are the best around however this is a knock against the attitude given for no reason, the lady putting me on hold to talk about personal things instead of taking my order and after asking 3 times for the order to be made for travel, being told that it will be and is and wasn't is purely unprofessional. I can not recommend Ioannonies anymore, they left a bad taste in my mouth without even tasting one bite of the 40 plus dollars of food i...
Read moreOh boy. Let me preface by saying my gf and I would come here once or twice a week for very good sandwiches. But tonight happened. We ordered two Italian hoagies, which from past experience were quite good. When we got home to eat, all we tasted was vinegar, straight vinegar. Our mouths went numb from just one bite of these “sandwiches”. I immediately called the store and they said they could give us a credit, but only if we bring the sandwiches back in, which to me was a first with dealing with any food establishment. But ok we bring the sandwiches back, I get there tell them these were probably the worst sandwiches I’ve ever eaten, and the guy who I assume is the owner, says maybe you should get the vinegar on the side. Not one apology for the quality of the “food”, not one apology for making us drive back. That set me off a bit so I told him in the thousands of sandwiches I’ve had in my life, ordering with oil and vinegar, I’ve never had this problem with a sandwich, and maybe he should have someone make the sandwich properly and implored him to taste the hoagies we brought back, just one bite. I also told him when a customer returns bad food, smart Alec comments like that are not appreciated. I again implored him to taste the sandwich. Then he tells me he takes offense to saying the sandwiches are bad, and that they should make it correctly, and if his sandwiches are so bad why are they running out of rolls( sounds like bad management to me). They took my name and told me my credit for the meal would be open for 48 hours only, another thing I’ve ever heard a food establishment doing. At that point I said I just need my money back because thanks to his attitude we wont be returning again, especially not within 48 hours. This owner needs to take ownership of mistakes, they happen, but not blame the customer for something they should have done correctly. Meeting the owner I can finally understand why the overall level of customer service...
Read moreIOANNONI'S VERSE SABATINA'S DEL CITY. We live in Middletown and usually drive all the way to New Castle to get a great sub...at Ioannoni's.. Was so happy to hear about Sabatina's in Del City just open up and was told it belonged to his wife. Which was "his X wife." I went there on their 2nd day of opening. To my surprise, NO RAMP FOR SANDWICH SHOP, ONLY FOR THIER WINE TASTING SHOP NEXT DOOR. SIGN ON locked DOOR, POINTING TO THE OTHER DOOR TO ENTER SANDWICH SHOP which has 4 or 5 step to get in sub shop. I AM HANDICAP. I asked the gentleman how help me up the steps if they were going to put a ramp in for sub shop. He works there and said not sure if City will allow it. (I thought it is a law that every business has to be handicap assessable. I did ask why would you need a handicap at your wine tasting and not at your sub shop when you need it more where the traffic flow is great for handicap? I suppose in their mind thinking maybe need it for the intoxicated tasters coming out of wine shop. Just beefing off and could not do a review on Sabatina's web page, no place for a review. So let me state, at 81 yrs old hate to drive all the way up to Ioannoni's from Middletown, but will continue as IOANNONI'S MAKES THE BEST SUBS.. THANK YOU IOANNONI. I asked if Sabatina is wife of Ioannoni and was told Xwife, but she and her X open up the N.C. sub together. Plus I asked for a large sub, and it cost me $19.99 very tasty as use good Italian meat, but meat sliced very thin and only total of 3 layers plus the 1 layer cheese. When I got home, in bag was their menu.. and it states Italian sub size ''Small, Med. & Jumbo." No large. Thanks Ioannoni's of New Castle. My husband and I grew up with buying Mrs. Ioannoni's Snow Balls.. she was great. Marie...
