Murph's Irish Pub — Restaurant in Delaware

They didn't have the beer that was advertised all over the bar. They eventually came up with another beer from the same company, but it sure didn't taste like it. The bartender was inattentive and kept giving my friend and I weird looks. Granted, we had just hiked all through Alapocas, but we weren't unsightly. The atmosphere was definitely not friendly. I say this because there was a man at the bar who used this venue to loudly list the reasons why he hated women and the vibe was distinctly 'We don't take kindly to strangers'. When we left, the bartender was outside smoking, which isn't a big deal, but she followed us around the building and continued to give us dirty looks! We were perfectly polite the entire time we were there! We were both tired and wanted a beer after a long hike. I'm not sure who pissed in the collective cheerios of this place, but...

Named as one of the top dive bars in the country, Murph's is a bit less ragged and run down and a step up from some of the dives I've been in. It's clean, tastefully decorated, and spacious. You can immediately tell that this is a neighborhood bar, where the locals are all familiar with one another. There is ample space for pool, and the 360 degree wrap-around bar is a great touch. We only came in for beer, and I can report back that the draft beer...

Pretty darn good grilled ham and cheese, not too greasy! Of course you can get one in other places with fancy cheese for $10. Sick of paying that much money for a simple lunch, this was $6.50. husband had the BLT, guess what? The bacon was not sitting around for hours like most places, it was good too!

Yes it was dark in there for lunch but, it is mainly a bar for the night crowd. They were gearing up for a big Halloween...
