New Castle Bagels — Restaurant in Delaware

First time impression is I will never go back.

Firstly; they have no air conditioning.. the excuse was “they cannot turn it on because ‘the oven’ was in use”. Panera and other bakeries beg to differ. So it’s super hot inside the store. I had an hour to waste; thinking I would sit and eat but I ended up eating in my car.

I genuinely wanted to support this small business over a chain (Einstein, Manhattan) that’s the reason I chose the place. It was a horrible experience. So bad- I genuinely contemplated even writing this review, because I understand the permanent impact.

The food AND the customer service is tied on a scale of horrible to insulting. We ordered everyday items; sausage, egg & cheeses & a tuna melt- you would have thought we asked for a fine dining, 8 course meal experience- with the level of friction and pushback we received. It was absurd to be honest. We left exhausted and perplexed at the level of difficulty we had to endure with placing our order. 3 jalapeño bagels sandwiches- turned out to be the most bland, flavorless food- even though we had to prompt the cook to add salt and pepper to the eggs while cooking. Jalapeño flavor was non existent. Eggs and sausage were no better either. Tuna was inedible.

The struggle with the tuna melt order was bizarre; I was forced to be lectured on how tuna salad is “cold” and “it contains mayonnaise” as if I was an idiot & tuna is somehow a novel concept. It was insulting to my intelligence. The 3rd degree over a tuna melt- turns out the entire performance was because they had no way to melt the cheese!!! I was gaslit over my bagel order because of their incapability. Very Frustrating.

First impression- it was subpar and not worth the money I spent. I absolutely have buyers...

I am so disappointed with the service today. I came here excited to have my regular breakfast sandwich that I always get. Today I went in received my food never thought to check the bag. I went to another store before going to school. I wanted to eat my sandwich before class so I went to open the sandwich I was like this is a huge sandwich. I open it up it’s not even my sandwich h. So I drove all the way back to the place to get my sandwich it had been sitting out for 35 mins now however I was so hungry I didn’t even care. You think I learn my lesson nope waited until I was almost by my school and open the sandwich it was burnt I mean black on the outside and the inside so I turned back around and I open it up and showed the cook i said I can not eat this burnt sandwich. He took the sandwich and got another roll and put it on the grill then he took the meat, cheese and egg that was on the sandwich and put it bk on the grill omg 😳… I said oh no just can I get my money back. I will Never. One back here again. This just go to show that it’s best just to eat at home. No one never apologized or anything I am...

Avoid this at all costs!!! Place is filthy!!! The women who works there is rude. Ordered ham and cheese on a bagel and iced coffee. She never asked me if I wanted milk or cream. She hands it to me with cream. When I told her I didn’t want it she told me to “get it together!!!” Then I open my bagel and it has cheese only on the left side of the bagel. I went back in and she says it’s a whole piece of cheese (wish I took a pick on how pathetic it looked) and told me again that I needed to “get it together!!” Really????? No you need to get it together!!!!

Response to your response: I did not "throw" food at you!!! I put it on the counter in front of you. In addition, I am not the only customer who thinks the place is a filthy (check out the bottom of the refrigerated case - my husband wouldn't get at drink because it was so filthy) and that your employee is rude.
