Every part of this story is true (from my perspective).
Expectations were not met today as injustice stemmed from Chip’s policies. I would say I woke up outside my own body- staring at my helpless self as I came to. That would, however, imply any sleep at all. Still had a headache though. It was the Tuesday morning after a Saturday Christmas. It had been a fifty degree holiday but it snowed on some of us if ya catch my drift or bluff.
Professionalism is always grounded in routine, after all, and I’ve been here before. My past escapades have led me to believe one thing to be true in this life. The only remedy for such an instance is a Belly Buster the next day around noon.
My family’s up on Long Island, I live 5 minutes from Pickle’s and Chips. So I sat up on my Dad’s couch around 8, needing a shower and all of time to stand still for a straight forty eight. After that New York water pressure did it’s part, leaving me rejuvenated enough to feel a burst of inspired craving for the one thing I knew would set me straight.
Those moments of epiphany just hit different around the holidays. Just the thought of all that cheesy goodness enveloped by the perfect sub roll. Pondering the thought of chasing runaway potatoes and reaching a point of complete fulfillment as I soldier on towards the end of a girthy, twelve inch mammoth of a cure. The expectation of the fluffiest scrambles literally kept me alive for the three hour car ride as I white knuckled it down 95 South.
Fifteen minutes out and I had reached the moment I’d get to give ol’ Chip a call- the old fashioned way- and set my bellybustin’ in motion. I was at a loss for words when the other line echoed a response so disappointing I regretted my existence. We don’t serve breakfast from 11 to 1:30. click 12:17 flicked across my dash. Stuck right smack dab in the damn middle. Starved, ravaged and despondent I pulled into my driveway. Literally no other sandwich of any rendition or variety in the whole damn state has the medicinal properties of the combined ingredients of that gift of a creation that was now being held hostage by some other chump’s cheesesteak. And after all I’d been through. After all I’d done to get to this point. Breakfast food of the finest standard had still been relegated to the antiquated notion of time? Scoff.
I’d like to conclude this rant by letting you know I have literally never left a review of any product on any space ever before. This let down was just too much to bear after the constant raising of the bar your sandwich creations have led all of us to expect. Damn you, Pickles! And, damn you, Chips! I’ll see...
Read moreI don’t write many reviews but this one absolutely is warranted. I’ve ordered from pickles and chips a few times. The food is your typical sub shop food. I didn’t have a menu so I pulled up the menu online. I ordered a “fresh” turkey wrap( turns out it was lunch meat turkey)the price was $10 but when I got there to pick up he rang it up as $12. I questioned and very smug he handed me a menu and said his prices changed (the menu he handed me said $10 too) I noticed this when I got back to my office. I immediately called to question his pricing method. I spoke to the same smug old man that took my money ( I believe he is the owner). When I questioned him he gave me some spiel that his prices change every day and that’s just how it is and that I used a credit card ( okay I can understand that) but he should have on his menu that using a card incurs an additional fee. He seemed annoyed and told me to come back over and he “would give me a couple bucks back. I pretty much told him to keep it and hung up on him. All I ask is for fairness and respect when I purchase from a merchant. I’m sure I’m not the only customer he’s done this to. All I can say is maybe it’s time for you to retire “chip” and start collecting your full social security check (72 years old) if you need that extra money so bad and stop ripping off your customer! I will never go back there, you lost a customer but I really don’t think you give 2 rats ass...
Read moreI've been in delaware over 20 years. Grew up eating pickles & chips so it grieves me to leave this review but I do so in shallow hopes that the owner will somehow see this review and change things so I can take this down. The other day my son and I went in and ordered 2 cheese steaks. His only cheese. Mine with ketchup & pickles. First of all the owner was handling the money then touching and cutting open the rolls. Then the rolls go to a dirty counter. Then the guy cooking the steaks was ugly as sin, had long hair, facial hair, and wasn't frequently washing his hands or wearing gloves per sandwich he made. Then he peeled the cheese with his finger nails, then scooped the pickles with his fingers to assemble the sandwich. Look, I don't want to hear about covid, when you have food establishments not wearing masks standing over food, not wearing hairnets, or gloves. They need to change out gloves for every sandwich they make. Goes for all food restaurants. Sorry to pickles & chips, but I won't be...
