I am a former Wawa employee of 6 years and it pains me that I can not in good conscience leave a 5 star review.
I do not know what is going on at this location lately but I have been disappointed. About half of the staff I have interacted with over the past 6 months have not been reflecting all of the big 6 core values. Most notably, the delight customers core value.
There is also the GREAT model, which I feel is not being followed by a good portion of those working the registers. The last time I was in I was not greeted or given eye contact or a thank you. I got what I needed but it seemed as though I was a bother to the associate.
I do tend to visit this location during second shift, which is the 3pm-11pm time of day, and this seems to be when I encounter a less than stellar experience. I occasionally come in during the end of first shift (usually some time between noon-3pm) and have ALWAYS had a great experience during that time of day.
I understand times are tough with hiring staff after the pandemic (I am now a business owner and suffer the same issue) but I'd rather wait in line longer for a pleasant interaction than get out faster through an interaction that left me feeling like I wasn't valued. The quality of service matters to some more than speed. The GM of this location should consider retraining customer service and/or replace the staff they can with those who model the great customer service we've come to expect from Wawa.
Otherwise, this location IS very busy so a wait can be inevitable. I am understanding and empathetic to that. The food quality has been on point and the store is kept well stocked. Any time I've used the ladies room it has been kept clean and stocked.
I will still go here because I do love me some Wawa and this is my conveniently local (3 miles from my house) store, I just hope there are positive changes...
Read moreIm a retail manager and i must say The service at the Delmar wawa is always top notch! I have daily visited this store for the last 3 years and have only ever had great customer service. I will drive past the wawa close by work just for the friendly and upbeat attitudes. Most of the staff takes the time to learn my daily requests. Tonight we got drinks and they were really busy but never missed a beat kept hard at it called back up for our drinks to be made when they relized it was taking time and apologize for the wait and actually ment it. The staff takes the time to give that personal touch every day. Keep up the great work and idk if the company does anything to show they appreciate the staff and this store but they definitely need to because i hold this store in the highest regard! I strongly feel the level of great customer service should be the standard for the other stores in the area. I really hope this makes it to the district manager. Because i dont ever take the time to give a review and feel the time and detail i took to acknowledge this store should be matched and acknowledged from someone high up. Read moreWawa is one of my favorite stores. After 4 trips to this location over the past 2 weeks from this point forward I will go out of my way, pay taxes and head to the North Salisbury location. The customer service is absolutely terrible. From the cashiers to the manager. The deli worker even announced out loud that she “keeps her blade on her at all times if people want to play with her”. The night shift manager heard this comment made and entertained the conversation. The one cashier who seemed to be the only person in the store to ever be happy or smile and treat customers with good customer service skills was talked down to and hollered at by the night shift manager because she didn’t like the way she was ringing up products, after being talked to horribly by the manager that night every experience with her since then has been cold and unfriendly like the rest of the night employees.
