We tried to have dinner last night (Friday) at Bob Evans in Grand Ledge Michigan at 6:45pm. We were able to get an up front parking spot and the store did not appear to be very busy. The young man who seated us quickly appeared to also be the cashier. After waiting 20 minutes we realized we were not going to get waited on for our drink order let alone our dinner order. There were 5 teenagers running the show. A pretty blonde young lady behind the bar socializing with teanage patrons at bar, a young man sweeping, a young lady cleaning tables and one young lady waiting on a few tables around us who seemed to be the only waitress. Not one single person noticed our existence. As we were seated, I could hear apologies from the waitress at the table behind us. When I realized no service was going to happen I began observing what was going on in the dining room. A man at a table in the other direction was trying to make eye contact with anyone who was working as they walked past his table multiple times to get their attention. Turns out his meal was incorrectly prepared. I watched at least three teammates walk past his table. Finally the waitress stopped and was apologetic and took his plate to the kitchen. We continued to wait for service. The plate was returned him, the table behind us continued with service and we remained invisible. We eventually got up and walked out. I was wearing a bright yellow raincoat. No one even noticed we walked out...even watching from the parking lot no one even noticed we left. I guess that makes sense since our existence was not noticed while we sat. The dining room seemed dirty despite the young lad sweeping. The white trim around the windows were filthy. The place seemed to feel run downhill since the last time we have visited. We've always received good food and service at this location. If this continues I suspect this location will be out of business in the next 6 months. No manager or shift lead were present. We got up and walked out. When we left we went to Outback Steakhouse for a glorious meal. I know we won't be back to the Bob Evans Grand Ledge location. I work way to hard to have this experience to spend money and our time at...
Read moreUPDATE: On Friday, March 29, 2024 we came to this location for dinner. We have been to this location many times but this time broke the camels back and we will not be returning.
First, the music was too loud. Second, once we were seated, we noticed that many of the tables were dirty. The dishes had not been removed. It was probably 10 to 15 minutes before we received our food and tables got cleaned about 5 minutes before that. I ordered a breakfast to which I asked for ranch dressing for my hash browns(which were over cooked), my husband ordered a Rise and Shine burger that was supposed to have some type of honey sauce on it and a fish sandwich with mayo and extra tarter sauce. When the food came we were missing the fish sandwich and the ranch dressing. We thought that when the waitress went back that she was going to bring the sandwich and the ranch dressing, but she didn't. After about 5 mins, my husband asked the waitress where was his other sandwich. The waitress said "oh" and walked off. Seconds later, she returned and asked what kind of sandwich he wanted. We both looked puzzled because we thought that she wrote down our order. So it took another 10 mins to get the fish sandwich. To add insult to injury, the Rise and Shine burger did not have the sauce on it. When my husband brought that to the attention of the waitress, she said that she could give it to him not the side. The manager Terry came to our table and explained that so many people were complaining about the sauce that they stopped putting it on there and offered it on the side. My husband told him no and to take the burger off of our bill. The manager Terry tried to make it better by giving us a card for a discount the next time that we came it but we felt that the service would not be better and decided not to come back ever again. I gave that card to a couple at the table across from us.
The standard of Bob Evan's has went down. We work too hard for our money to...
Read moreBAD DAY at Bob Evans! Right off the jump we were told there was a wait list only to have the next two families that walked in be seated immediately. Come to find out the staff dont communicate well and end up with one host create a wait list and the other over seating waitresses that werent ready. Next the food....we waited 45 minutes to receive under cooked potatoes, burnt bacon and stone cold everything! When we informed the waitress she suggested we speak with a manager. Normally I don't like to take things "that far", but as it was suggested rather than requested we agreed. Instead the manager declined to appear! So the waitress suggested we try again when paying the bill?? After waiting 10 minutes in line just to pay the bill because the same host that put us on a non existent wait list also didn't know how to operate the register, we proceeded with the suggestion to request to see the manager. Didn't help any asking at the register as we were told "she's too busy. Wanna come back later?" Not quite sure when one of the top priorities of a restaurant manager stopped being customer satisfaction....especially during a Sunday Morning breakfast schedule....but it just rounded out the extremely disappointing visit...
