Mr.JD Delicious Donuts 2 — Restaurant in Denham Springs

I recommend this place. I got a glazed donut, the sausage, egg and cheese croissant and a Diet Coke for $9.35 with tax.

I really enjoyed the doughnut. I highly recommend it. The most impressive part about it was that it was a unique donut. Some of these newer places seem to be cookie cutter and doing the same thing with the same ingredients.

What impressed me was not only the thickness of the donut but the airy texture and perfect chew. This was a donut forward donut meaning that there was not that much icing. The icing was the typical flaky glaze which did not disappoint. Maybe some people would want more of the glaze or icing.

The other thing that was impressive about the donut was that it had slight notes of vanilla. Making it unique. This gave it a real good depth of flavor, and it had no funny oil taste as some of these places have.

The sausage, egg and cheese croissant got points for freshness. More specifically it was already cooked and in the shelf upon request and finished in the microwave, but it still had a level of freshness that I appreciated. Also, the good thing was that it was readily prepared. The croissant was also buttery. It was a large serving size. There was plenty of sausage on it, and it could’ve used a little bit more egg, but it was probably one egg. The croissant did not stand as tall as the one in the picture, but that’s neither here nor there. It was still good.
