Omg. Chicken fried steak. Just...omg. Go. Go now. And put some golden happiness in your face.
Ok ok I know Google wants long detailed reviews so if that's not clear enough here goes. Home cooking. Not home STYLE cooking mass produced to feed the mindless unhappy and nameless crowd. This is actual home recipes. The soups ok but good Lord that fried steak... Spuds are nummy and the salads don't strike me as purely rabbit food. You'll find the city hall politicians and civil servants, working crews, families with kids, hipsters with some food sensibility, and the local farmers/ ranchers out for a nice breakfast with their wives here. Pretty much everyone knows this is where you go for good wholesome heart warming American food. Service is personable, honest, and fast. Ask them opinion and they'll tell you honestly what's good and what you should order if you feel like rolling yourself out the door. I have no idea about their desserts, I've always been too stuffed to order anything, but they never question a need for a take home box! On that subject serving sizes are spot on. Really nice people and their cold, no matter what shift, have never failed my need for perfectly fried chickenie goodness. Yes that's a word. It's on the internet so you...
Read moreWe had stopped going here due to portion sizes. I have had weightloss surgery and cannot eat much so my husband and I share food. After a few weeks they complained about us sharing even though we always spent at least $25 and left very generous tips. Today we took my niece to breakfast for her birthday, the waitress is one that I never want again. If we ever do go back I will request to sit in someone else's area. She was rude and did not take care of us. She was left a $25 tip and openly complained about the tip because she only saw the $5 bill on the table. We asked to swap the French toast with a waffle because Nicks honestly has the most wonderful waffles we have ever eaten and I am a chef. They would not swap, we would have to pay full price for a waffle which would have been another $8. So that being said. I paid $65 for 3 breakfast's, 4 coffees, and terrible service followed with a $25 tip because I assume the waitress is terrible due to her own financial woes. So it cost me $100 for 4 people to eat at a diner for breakfast and be treated like a second class citizen because I have had weightloss surgery. No pictures because, what would...
Read moreAfter my husband and I moved here, we went out to eat here a few times, and every time our food came out cold; also, the servers are totally oblivious to what's going on in the restaurant because there doesn't seem to be any defined "section" for them, instead the waitresses are all over the place and seem to have issues keeping up with customers. My daughters grandpa likes to drink coffee here, and he took her to the cafe. Well, I went here just to pick up my daughter, a 14 month old baby, and she threw up all over me. Instead of them helping me clean up, they threw a towel at me and said, "clean it up", which I was already doing. I have personally worked in restaurants for about 8 years, and never did we ever make the customers clean up vomit, and we always treated them with respect and moved them to a different part of the restaurant. The people who work here don't know what respect is, and when I quickly took my baby girl's throw up covered clothes off her, they said sharply, "you need to do that in the bathroom." DON'T EVER GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED...
