I really wanted to love this place. I was truly so excited to see a 24 hour donut shop and even though the whole region was covered in ice, my husband told me we could try it on our way back from Oklahoma. I read the reviews and I was highly anticipating the experience. We finally made it a little after midnight. There were two police officers getting donuts also so I assumed they must really be amazing. The selection was incredible. Some reviews said it was dirty, but it didn't seem dirty to me. It's not super bright so I guess maybe that caused the reviewers to think it was dirty but there wasn't overflowing trash, messy counters, dirty tables or dirty floors. It just looked like a donut shop. None the less, we opted to go for a box and each pick 6 knowing our children would also be very excited to try them. There were also reviews thst stated there was a lack of cinnamon options but there were two racks of cinnamon options so I don't know if we just happened to go on cinnamon day or if there's some place that offers 49 varieties of cinnamon donuts but I didn't find it to be lacking in cinnamon options. We chose our dozen. 2 chocolate turtle, 1 twix, 1 over the rainbow, 1 butterfingers, 1 peanut butter Nutella, 1 cinnamon twist, 1 chocolate cookie butter, 3 plain glazed, 1 red velvet. So many people praised them for being fresh. In my mind, I thought this meant like Krispy Kreme fresh. I LOVE a fresh, hot, original glazed Krispy Kreme. Clearly my interpretation was not what was meant. I think "fresh" meant..... made at some point in the last 72 hours. They weren't warm. I guess they were room temp which isn't a deal breaker, I think most donut shop donuts are room temp. I read many reviews staring the chocolate cookie butter was a favorite so I tried it first. I spit it out. It's thick and dense. But not like a cake. It's thick and dense like the obnoxious kid in 9th grade algebra that popped gum and gossiped about everyone. I moved on to the Twix. Terrible idea. There were so many different textures and I'm certain if they make great value Twix then that's what was used. Or like Halloween clearance twix from 2020. My husband bit into a glazed donut and spit it out. It was also thick and dense and had some weird coating left on the roof of his mouth. There was no way I could convince myself to throw away 20.00 of donuts and also no way I could convince my kids they would enjoy them. I sat them on the counter when we got home and began brainstorming how these could be used. Donut cake pops? I have neither the time or the talent. Pass. So I did what every good mother of 6 always starving children does and put them in the air fryer. The times had to be played with a little BUT most were really good after just 2 minutes at 400 degrees. There was no hope for the red velvet. I don't even think it wanted to be a donut so it was protesting. Of all 12, the red velvet and twix were the only ones even prayer couldn't save. In other news, the coffee was either really good or I was...
Read more(UPDATED DOWN BELOW*) We went there today and it was closed, but they have a sign stating that they started out with a soft opening and would have a Grand Opening which will include being open 24/7 with a drive thru. I did note that only the drive thru will be open 24/7. So we'll check it out after it is fully open. By what I've read about them, they should offer up some really unique donuts. Welcome to Denton Amy's Donuts!!! Hope you will be prosperous and offer up a plentiful variety for all to enjoy! And by the amount of people we saw coming to the door, I think we're in for some good donuts! UPDATE(02/2021): Stopped in on an early Friday evening with just a few customers there. Thought this would be a fun Friday night dessert treat along with a Saturday morning addition for our family. I selected a variety of unique flavors along with a few basic donuts for comparison. No doubt there is some very creative offerings here and even the basic donuts are worth a try. Soft and pillowy without a greasy aftertaste. Nice glazing and the chocolate ones are just as good. The Apple Fritter is really good and they offer two other fruit choices too! We sampled THE ELVIS!!! Don't hesitate in jumping into this one! Creme Brulee too! Who knew a donut could taste even better! My personal favorite is an Old Fashioned Glazed that is very tender with a nice crumb! TRY THE CHOCOLATE COOKIE BUTTER!¡!WHAT??? Our son introduced us to Cookie Butter and YEOW!!! they put it on a donut!?! MERCY!!! Give Amy's a try! It's a lot of fun to try something new and unique and well made! FYI: I am not compensated in any way by this business and I gladly pay for any food/services. I'm sharing my opinion freely and hope you will have a good experience with...
Read moreMy husband and I have been wanting to try Amy's Donuts for a while now so I went to pick up some donuts and was excited to try them and the fact that they're open all day was a plus! I walked in & there was a family in front of me with at least 4 kids & I didn't know the options bc I'd never been there. I couldn't even see the options & the kids were jumping and running around & being quite loud. I was not the only one having trouble looking at the donuts. It was finally my turn and it seemed like every kind I wanted was not available so I chose a few I thought would be good. The service was great, no complaint there at all.. but my husband and I were extremely disappointed. The donuts tasted like they had been sitting out for days and they hardly had any glaze on some. We couldn't even finish them bc they just weren't very good unfortunately. I paid $17 for everything which I thought was a little over priced so I will not be going back there or any other location. I'm sorry to say I would NOT recommend...
