A Delightful Dinner at Blue Ginger
Having dinner with my mom at Blue Ginger was a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations in every way. The restaurant impressed us with its fresh and tasty Japanese cuisine and exceptionally fast service, making our evening together truly special. The highlight of our dining experience at Blue Ginger was undoubtedly the food. The menu offered a wide variety of traditional and contemporary Japanese dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients. We started with a shared platter of assorted sashimi, which featured melt-in-your-mouth slices of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. The fish was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. For our main courses, my mom chose the shrimp tempura, which was light, crispy, and served with a perfectly balanced dipping sauce, while I opted for the teriyaki chicken, which was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Each dish was a testament to the chef’s skill and commitment to quality, making every bite a delightful experience.
One of the standout aspects of our dinner at Blue Ginger was the fast and efficient service. From the moment we were seated, the staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that our needs were promptly met. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations based on our preferences. Despite the restaurant being busy, our orders were taken quickly, and the food arrived at our table in a timely manner. The efficient service allowed us to enjoy our meal without any long waits, enhancing our overall dining experience. Blue Ginger provides an inviting and comfortable atmosphere that made our dinner even more enjoyable. The restaurant's décor is a tasteful blend of modern and traditional Japanese elements, creating a serene and pleasant environment. The tables were neatly set, and the soft lighting added to the cozy ambiance. The staff, from the hostess to our server, were courteous and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Their genuine hospitality contributed significantly to the positive experience.

Read moreWe had high hopes for dining in at this restaurant because we had ordered take out from this place previously, so we thought dine-in would also be a good experience. Unfortunately, it was not. When we were seated, it took our server a good two to three minutes to greet us/take our drink order, which I would understand if they were busy, but they were not at the time, and I have seen servers tend to their customers in a quicker fashion even when busy. Secondly, whenever she dropped our drinks off, she did not ask if we were ready to order, but instead went to browse on her phone behind the bar, only taking our order after three minutes of this. Had I not had any patience whatsoever, I probably would have walked out at that point.
Fast forward to when we received our food. The roll I ordered was good, however, my boyfriend ordered the shrimp roll combo, which comes with 7pcs of assorted sushi, salmon, avocado roll, and a soup/salad. What he received was 7pcs of sushi and sashimi (he hates sashimi which is specifically why he did not order the sushi/sashimi combo). Trying to flag our server down was a pain because she immediately went to the kitchen as soon as she brought our food out. We had to flag down a busser and the host to retrieve our server to tell us the issue.
It took her another 3-4 minutes to come out, but when addressing the issue to her, the owner/manager was nearby and told us that what he received was, in fact, not sashimi, but rather sushi with salmon in it. She explained that sashimi is just the meat and not the rice. We were both confused because what he received is EXACTLY what sashimi looks like. So after a quick google image search, we discovered that he had received sashimi (we already knew that from the start but we had to double check since the manager/owner was basically gaslighting us). The situation with flagging down our server and telling her the issues were made uncomfortable because multiple people were at our table at a time, which was kind of overwhelming and embarrassing.
Aside from that, our server did not check to see if we liked the food, and only came to refill our drinks once, and that was when we were pretty much done with our food. As we were leaving, no one from the 3-4 workers sitting on the couch by the host stand wished us a good night.
Don't get me wrong, this place has good sushi at a reasonable price, however, after our experience tonight, it is unlikely that we...
Read moreAlright, I usually keep my reviews one or two sentences long, But I feel like this place deserves more.
I started off with the Miso soup, which was the best I've ever had.
I then had the cream cheese and crab stuffed jalapenos, and seriously, they were just about the best thing I had ever tasted in my life. I can honestly say that I was sad when I finished the last one. They were fried perfectly golden, the crab was fresh. The jalapenos were distinct but definitely not overpowering.
I then had the Alaska roll. I've been to some seriously expensive places in Dallas for sushi, but this roll blew all others I've had out of the water. The rice was cooked to perfection. The rolls had the PERFECT inside to rice ratio. The salmon melted in my mouth and tasted like it had been caught just a few hours beforehand.
My main dish was the Filet Mignon with Shrimp hibachi. I've been to many hibachi places over the years. Paying 25 dollars for this same plate. I was literally astounded with this food. The steak was cooked to perfection. It was tender to a point that I couldnt believe. The shrimp was delicious also. Usually hibachi places will overcook the shrimp and they become rubbery. This was definitely not the case here. The fried rice was one of a kind. Best I have ever had. This entire dish only cost 18.50, so I honestly was astounded by the quality of this meal.
For dessert we had Strawberry mochi ice cream and the tempura cheesecake. I am not sure if they make the ice cream themselves but the texture and flavor were absolutely to die for. The tempura cheesecake was a new experience for me personally but I definitely enjoyed it the most out of the two deserts. It was fried to perfect gold, just like everything here. The cake was warm yet still held together. Our servers were extremely polite and helpful, genuinely so, not the fake show you get at many other places.
All in all, my wife and I will now be regulars at this place. I do not know how it took so long for us to find it. You can't beat the prices and you certainly can't...
