4/25 update - after reaching out to the manager who left their email, i had an additional follow up to my email. Great to hear a personal response to a manager who clearly cared. 10/10 response to feedback.
interesting place. $37 total for $16 pizza, $7.50 drink and tip. Online is better. Bartender saw me coming back to finish my drink and threw it out in front of my face. It was the weirdest display of āserviceā Iāve seen. Bartender was clearly overwhelmed, couldnāt handle her job, was so stressed (with three people sitting at the bar) and took so long to do absolutely everything. It was kind of crazy. If you come, prepare to wait and be patient! Girlie is just trying, itās hard out here ššø
Iāve ordered takeout from here sooo many times because I live close by and itās local. This was the first time Iāve been in and I didnāt know that it had separate kitchens. One for Fat Sullys and another for Denver Biscuit. They must make bank in online orders because that kitchen was WORKING tonight. They were clocked in thatās for sure. It wasnāt super busy but kitchen folk werenāt standing around. Service was interesting. I went in alone, the person who checked my ID was very friendly. Walked in, waited and lingered around the hostess stand for a minute while I looked at the menu. No one told me otherwise so I guess you can just walk in and sit wherever? I noticed when I left there was a sign that was put out after my arrival that said āwait to be seated.ā Hostess was taking a break sitting on the floor? The customers were superrr chill, itās not a super fun place on a Friday night but thatās Denver on the weekends. Probably the weirdest part was the bartender. She literally walked away and looked at me if I was crazy for asking if a certain part of a bar was closed. I sat where everyone else was, and it took a long time to get service. I suggest you look at the menu before, get your drinks and everything in right away. She was miserable, clearly stressed, wasnāt able to handle the empty bar. There are so many bodies here working but for some reason the service attentiveness was not thereš¤ I would try something else if you are looking for dining in, but the dine out prices are significantly cheaper. That may be why itās pretty empty. There is a pool table! Parking nearby isnāt horrible, just be mindful of the residents and homes. There is currently a lot of construction so it may be a good idea to factor in a walk. Special body ability friendly? Eh. Idk itās Colfax, lots of uneven curbs, busy sidewalks, there are wide isles and large spaces in between tables on the first floor. You can get to the pool table itās just around the bar. To the bartender - Keep your head up girlie,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāll begin with the service which starts off right when you walk in. It took them a while to get us seated. The place was practically empty, there was someone at the hostās stand and they asked us where we wanted to sit, however they never sat us and then the hostess came a while later and asked if we had been helped, we said yes but the guy just left us hanging.
Then after finally being sat, we got to ordering. Between my partner and I we thought about getting 2 12ā pizzas but that was more expensive than just getting a 26ā pizza, to us we didnāt think it would be too big⦠so we also ordered the garlic knots. Little did we know the pizza was going to be as big as the dang table. The waiter knowing that didnāt warn us about how much food we were ordering. Any other restaurant wouldāve said something. Also, you pay for EACH TOPPING. And no where in the menu does it specify the prize per topping so I thought it all came included since the only way to order pizza here is by building your own pizza. They donāt have house pizzas or their own specialty pizzas ready to order. You HAVE to build your own. Because of us not knowing, I took the liberty to order 5 toppings and my partner 3 for his half, which accumulated to a lot $$$. Still no warning or brining awareness to what we were doing by the waiter. Which to me the price isnāt the thing that bothered me, since we can afford it. It was the lack of information by the waiter that really bothered me. I hate when food goes to waste, and needless to say, my partner and I only had 1 slice of pizza each. I was really bothered by the amount of GOOD FOOD that we were going to waste.
The food taste was there and it was pretty good which is why Iām rating the food 4/5 stars. It was just the lack of information by the waiter thatās really driving down this rating. I get that a waiter operates by tips so the more $$$ you spend the more $$$$ they get. However, this wasnāt the case for this time which is rare event for me to do, but the whole...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe hype for this place is real. You can't go wrong with any dish here. Entrees will make you full, so come hungry.
Food: The chicken pot pie is the best dish they have. It is to die for. I love this dish. This would bring me back to Denver every time. Everything on the dish compliments each other. The pot pie will make you full and warm. The biscuit in the middle becomes even better than the sandwiches.
The Franklin is really good. The gravy is what makes it great. If you had to choose from the biscuit meal, I would say pick this. My girlfriend says its spicy, but I didn't taste any spice to it. I love spicy food by the way.
The Ellsworth is sweet in taste. The honey and the sweet pickle goes well with each other. The pickle is probably the best pickle I have ever ate and I hate pickles. It's a typical fried chicken sandwich The meal gets over shadow by the Franklin.
Drinks: Boxcar Iced Toddy is delicious. The brew coffee is delicious. The mixture of their milk and sugar makes it worth getting.
Service: Service was amazing. Best I seen in the area. The bartender was amazing. I don't remember his name, but he has a beard and is very knowledgeable. He was quick to make sure we were taken care of and if there was anything wrong, he would fix it immediately. The server was nice and quick as well.
Ambience: Amazing ambience. The lighting slightly dim and warm feeling. Lots of room and tables. Bar is located in the center. Art along the walls.
Amenities: They have a billiard table. There is parking on the street. Very limited after hours. The whole vibe for this place is...
