I've been here a few times and live in the neighborhood. Similar to other reviews, I really want this place to succeed and hope they are taking the feedback from the community seriously.
To me, the interior and decor are the biggest detractors. The space lacks personality, warmth, or coziness. Similar to others, the blacked out space with a few pictures of pastries makes it feel sterile and cold. This plus the randomness of the music selection and lack of greenery makes it feel uninviting to sit and enjoy the food/coffee. A lot of reviews mention the food and prices, but I would wager these types of reviews would decrease or become non-existent if the space was spruced up a bit. The experience of eating somewhere is the food + the space and when you take the space out of the equation it becomes easy to be critical or focus solely on the food and the price. I'd gladly pay their prices if it was somewhere I wanted to sit for a while with friends.
I encourage y'all to take some time to invest in the space itself and make is somewhere you could see yourself gathering and enjoying a book, hanging with friends, or studying. Please take this feedback and similar feedback from others as constructive. Everyone wants to come back, support, and feel like this spot is part of the neighborhood, not a generic place that serves coffee...
Read moreThis review is intended to provide honest feedback on their early opening- this is a new bakery / coffee shop and I’m sure they will improve over time.
The Good: I think a coffee/ bakery place is a great fit for this neighborhood- the coffee prices were very reasonable ($4.50 for a latte) - they do have nondairy options.
The Bad: The food prices are WAY too high- $14 for a breakfast sandwich… $7.50 for a chocolate croissant- is insane for the neighborhood you are in. There are established bakeries in the area selling larger high quality croissants for $5- or $5.50 for a chocolate croissant. I almost walked out and went to one of them.
I got sourdough bread ($10) for a small loaf- I don’t think $10 is outrageous for fresh bread, but it was small + I wish it was crusty on the outside soft in the middle- mine was soft throughout and a little dense.
For the customer base- your money makers are going to be breakfast/ lunch items: sandwiches and coffee- most people are not going to regularly spend $14 for a breakfast sandwich.
You might make delicious baked goods and sandwiches- but some simple, affordable options for your regular customers will keep people coming through the door.
If I didn’t live so close I probably wouldn’t come back- because of the prices. But I’m willing to give this place another chance in...
Read moreSharing for honest feedback and hopes of improvement: Like many of the other reviewers, the atmosphere is not inviting, with little to know unique character and very sterile energy. I've been here a few times and mostly ordered coffees but the coffee takes a really long time even if we are the only ones in the shop. My biggest piece of criticism is the food preparation. I have seen one employee who has been preparing the breakfast sandwiches prep them on a random table where customers can see with no gloves, no apron looking like he has never prepared a burrito before. I think there needs to be more focus on the quality of food, the speed of service and, most importantly, creating a more welcoming space. The Regis neighborhood is desperate for a space to hang at, meet neighbors and enjoy good food and great coffee. I have been told you are opening more locations. I would recommend you dial in the first one and really develop the recipes, the prices and the brand before you expand and forget about your...
