I'm very conflicted. My first experience, actually the first place I went to in Colorado (other than the airport), was really good. Staff was friendly and it was during the week so it wasn't busy and that's always nice. The second visit was... less than good, by far. Obviously, I don't want to judge a place by a single person but when they are the front facing individual for a business it's hard to separate that. I know people have bad days and/or just don't feel like being happy, totally understandable. What I don't get is the lack of communication and blatant disregard for customers and/or their questions. It wasn't just me. Nearly every person checking out was met with curt and dismissive responses. Even my "thank you" as I was leaving was met with silence. When I visit Colorado again, I hope that I remember the first visit at ReCreative rather than the second since I love the idea and try to patronize places like this as much...
Read moreI found my bliss at ReCreative Denver. I'm a blatant tourist having arrived in Denver with no real agenda except to get away for a long weekend. I knew I'd wanted to visit an arts supply store but didn't know which one without Googling 'Art Supplies Near Me'. That's how I found this gem. Thank you. Google.
I'd never heard of a 2nd hand shop for art supplies before. What a BRILLIANT idea! Why isn't this a thing everywhere? I am thoroughly enamored with this concept.
What didn't I love about this place? Oh, I know . . . I didn't love leaving, and that's it.
At the time of this review, ReCreative Denver has a 5.0 rating from 62 reviews. I completely understand why. I'm going to stop gushing here because I don't want to deprive anyone of discovering this place for themselves.
One final comment is needed. I was blessed to meet Chris, who along with Emily and Matt, founded this amazing project. What a great guy. I made a...
Read moreI visit creative reuse stores while traveling whenever and wherever I can and I volunteer at one as well. There are some good finds but the pricing was quite off. I read in one of the review responses that they aim to have it at 50% off retail, which seems expensive for a used item but also when I brought it to the attention of the cashier that some of the watercolors are priced nearly at the same price as new, I was told no, some places sell them at as high as $22. Umm, yeah, but some sell them for $12-14 & yours were marked at $10-11. I accepted the answer and didn’t end up buying them. A bit of a turn off and made me question if I wanted to buy the other great finds that I had.
I did get some great pigments, I paid higher price than I have at most creative reuse center even for those. Not sure if I would put it on my...
