This place needs more credit than it gets for an amazing atmosphere with a wide variety of local artists. My husband and I went here for First Friday this month (September), and we were surprised by the amount of neat art tucked in this building! From metal sculptures to a technological collage and paintings and many jewelers...you can find a little something for everyone here if you are looking to gift local this year! Shelly Saville sat and talked with me for a long while after I showed interest in one of her necklaces. She told me about the Denver Art Society, what they do and what types of art are housed there. She is an outstanding artist and great person. She does fine art paintings and makes jewelry as well. As an art collaborative and cooperative it is a huge variety of work and skill level. The artist are not judged to be become involved. They simply have to put in some time and limited amount of cash - this is the key ingredient. It allows for everyone to play artist.. this is the key element for me. You get such a mixture of humanity showing their art and exposing their soul, how cool is this. Not everyone’s a Picasso or a Jackson Pollack but why not try. It’s a welcoming community.
