A Denver Gem: Carl's Pizza on 38th and Newton Carl's Pizza is a hidden gem on Denver's north side. This no-frills pizzeria offers classic Italian fare that's bursting with flavor. The Delights: Italian Sausage Sandwich: A must-try for any meat lover. The sausage is perfectly seasoned and cooked to juicy perfection. Alfredo Chicken Pasta: Creamy and comforting, this dish is a delicious combination of tender chicken, fettuccine noodles, and a rich alfredo sauce. Peroni on Draft: What better way to complement your Italian meal than with a refreshing Peroni beer? The Vibe: Carl's Pizza is a casual and welcoming spot. Don't expect a fancy atmosphere, but rather a focus on good food and friendly service. It's the perfect place for a relaxed dinner with friends or family. Overall: If you're looking for delicious Italian food in a down-to-earth setting, Carl's Pizza is the place to go. Their Italian sausage sandwich and alfredo chicken pasta are both winners, and the Peroni on draft is a perfect complement. Highly recommend!

Just had a wonderful lunch with my boyfriend it’s been two years since we’ve been here and everything is just like it used to be. Amazing staff and Wonderful kitchen staff. Stephanie was our server and was nothing but kind, our pizza got burned and she told us it would be a bit longer since they were making a new one for us, the lady making our pizza also came out to apologize and said they didn’t want to give us anything but perfection. And when we finished our amazing meal, they said we wouldn’t have to pay, and apologized for the long wait. I really appreciate the kind gesture! I would have paid regardless if we had to wait a bit or not, but I have always loved coming here and will always talk highly of them, it’s an amazing place with amazing people working there! I just hope they all know how wonderful they make the experience <3

We had an 82 year old house guest I took to Carl’s for lunch. After a terrific meal (he had the soup of the day and I had a cheeseburger). I asked him; if I blindfolded him, told him I took him through a time machine and uncovered his eyes in Carl’s what would he think? Without hesitating he said he would believe me! Carl’s has a great Italian food focused menu and the friendly service staff will make you feel like you’ve been whisked back in time to a place with good cooking at a great price will greet you at every visit.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. My partner and I have been here 2 times already and have LOVED IT. Authentic Italian at more than affordable prices? YES! The service is amazing and I paid $8 for an entire pitcher of Shiner, $14.50 for chicken Alfredo that lasted me two days, bread, a salad (you can also do soup) and a wine sundae. (An ice cream sundae covered in wine sauce , strawberries and whipped cream). We haven't had their pizza yet because their pastas are too good to pass up each time. This is such a wonderful, homemade Italian spot. Like a hidden gem of the highlands!:)

As italian places go, this is a hole-in-the-wall. Don't expect red tablecloths or an extensive wine selection. This isn't a place to dress up and go to dinner. Definitely casual eats at all times of the day and night. However, as we discovered, it's open late! Much later than I would ever expect, midnight most nights.

We sat in this place appreciating the flavor and hoping it never becomes a chain. Oh! I almost forgot to mention you can get homemade Italian sausage, or fully cooked ham for $6.00/8.00 a pd. I haven't tried it yet but all the meat in their pastas have been really good.

Small tip though: the Carl's selection dinner on their menu doesn't give you as much food as the other pastas. It seems like a good idea because you can try 3 entrees in one, but I personally wouldn't...

My wife and I were hopeful that, as one of very few remaining historic, Italian, family restaurants in the neighborhood, we would be able to add one more hidden gem to our list of wonderful "go to" restaurants. Unfortunately, our experience was terrible. While I was chewing on my second slice of pizza, I discovered a triangular, half inch, jagged piece of bone. I spit it out and showed it to our teenage waitress. She apologized and took the piece of bone to the kitchen. End of story. We weren't looking for a free meal, we just expected someone to care that I might have choked or sliced my throat on that sharp hunk of bone. We paid the bill in full, plus tip, left the pizza on the table, and will not go back. It is very disappointing that no effort was made by management to address the situation. Instead of bringing a manager to the table, she brought a box for us to take the remaining pizza home. Yeah, that wasn't gonna happen. Who's bone was it and how did it end up in my pizza? It's clear they don't care about...
