We really like this place. Brunch and entrees are decent, but we go when in the queso and salsa mood. Three different types of salsa! Or very large, tasty margaritas if you want to ruin your Saturday or Sunday. I always get the Mexican Omelette/Scramble or the Huevos a la Mexicana and both are solid. Rufina was our server and she is always so friendly. Be patient with staff as they seem to all wear many hats, but the experience always leaves a smile on our face. MY MOST RECENT VISIT: We are down the street, and always make time for this place when we need some really, really good queso. That might be breakfast or lunch. Great sized portion, fantastic taste, and get some of the house salsa with it. You will be led to one side or the other, and they are fully divided. Alan was our server last time, and he did a great job at handling not only tables but to go orders coming through the door. The margaritas are monstrous and potent, but be aware they are $16. They have a decent selection of popular beers, and even sometimes carry an IPA. Both breakfast and lunch are solid, and I got the breakfast burrito last time, smothered with bacon (deluxe version per the menu). I wish they had a big bar area, but we always enjoy our experience regardless. The rest of the menu is all good, but the queso is off the hook. I give it a 4 because of very little things and how the things I have tried on the rest of the menu weren't mind-blowing for me, but it is a strong 4. Definitely recommend and see you there.

Ok... This place has SAVED MY LIFE!! NOT KIDDING! I have been on the hunt for the past three years looking for what I know as REAL NACHOS. One would think, "that's easy. They are on every corner in Denver".. WRONG.... The nachos I've attempted to eat at a myriad of eateries have all been an abject failure at best. It seems silly to think that I would be so adamant about these being the best but, as a Chef, I know what these should look and taste like. As a former Texan, I eat them the way Mexicans eat them. Each one covered with gobs of ingredients. Anywhere else you go serves nachos piled high with chips and cold, coagulated, cheese. The outside may look appealing but, when you get into the middle it's just DRY CHIPS! Christina(gorgeous and sweet as can be)who works at Tacos Jalisco told me that theirs were Delicious. She was RIGHT! I have finally found my new favorite Mexican restaurant! The photo below shows a near empty container. I posted this because any other place I've eaten would have been a picture of their feeble attempt of something so simple, in the trash! Thank you Tacos Jalisco! And thank you lovely Ms Christina 💓

Three salsas to start off? Yes, please! They're all small portions so perfect for sampling and mixing. Then we ordered chili cheese queso. I grew up the South. We only had red chili. It still throws me off when something labeled "chili" arrives and it's green chili. Do I mind it? Not at all! Pork green chili queso. Order it. It's delicious. I never end up wanting the rice and beans that come with all meals at Mexican restaurants so I got a couple a la carte options. Two chicken enchiladas and a shredded beef taco. Lots of chicken and tons of delicious red sauce on top of the enchiladas. The taco was perfectly crispy. The boyfriend got the all beef combo: 1 taco, 1 burrito, 1 enchilada. The burritos come topped with green chili. I was jealous. We went on a Saturday night but it was kind of early so not too busy. Our server was fun and joked around a bit. Definitely a great local place. We'll be back and I'll get a chili covered burrito.

my family and I have (had) made this place our ONLY DESTINATION FOR CHILE RELLENOS! They do have authentic food but when they make a mistake (usually on to go orders) they say they will make it right yet give you a hard time when you go in and have to explain everything all over again! It’s too ridiculous to make this up,..Here is but one of many examples. I ordered the Chile relleno plate many times and was partly responsible for them winning BEST RELLENOS back when they first started in an old Donut shop on NE corner of 38th ave. and Stuart st. Westword was music, movies, food...all of the arts And usually with a comic wit. I had my friends send in the questionnaire and also stacked the deck by getting about 10 And filling them out myself, I usually don’t even consider such actions but these were The best if had since Mexico. Anyway you pay the same amount there or to go, so why aren’t tortillas included with to go orders? The first 3 times I called and went back once, the 3rd time and complained only to be told loudly In front of the entire restaurant “he does This all of the time to get free food! Aside from the fact that we had always tipped 16-20% and new her name and her child’s name (she worked up til 2-3 days before giving birth. I don’t steal or do things to get my way, I only say something when I’m right! Strike three! Then their salsas, excellent and as the saying goes, COMIDA SIN SALSA NO ES COMIDA! So their great salsas are never in your to go orders, I am used to it and ask, or back in the day you could fill your own while paying and checking for your 2 tortillas, it costs less to make a to go order than serve people over an hour (tipping is different but should not affect the way a dish is prepared or served ( I tip on to go orders anyway) I am upset as to why they say they will fix it .. They don't. I personally BROUGHT FRIENDS HERE FROM OUT OF State. Good luck..Rude and ungrateful for a 20 year customer who brought friends and family just for This Otherwise unique experience! Tacos Jalisco. P.S. I have not returned in the 3+ years since they began to treat me like a critic and not a great customer like they always had. I may buy it just to put them out of business, mean? Yes! Have I ever even thought of something like that? No, I did just now as I was updating my review. It’s not A good feeling but that’s how embarrassed I felt taking extra time and returning for Me and my grandmas tortillas. If they don’t or can’t make it the same to go as in hilouse then just say so, I’d pay the extra 2 bucks. They probably don’t care or even realize their actions trickle down. I suggest, and only A suggestion, order a whole family dinner, each person’s favorite and don’t say anything but “how much?” And thank you. Tipping is up to you. If they get it right then ok, I mis The unlucky but only with them. If it’s wrong call and explain and go in and have them fix it, Do this several times just as my family had done. See how long it takes them to demean you, accuse you of doing this all the time. Then reply and dinner is on me. I miss the RELLENOS but not enough to EVER RETURN AND BE TREATED LIKE NO ONE SHOULD EVER BE TREATED, even if a little miffed. Rudeness shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone. I was not rude and since we would order twice a week sometimes, and they had become popular...mistakes on their part became the norm as opposed to to the rare or unusual. btw, all of their tacos (real tacos) are so good that when I told my family I am boycotting TACOS JALISCO! I had to take all of my Cooking skills and I set about recreating every dish my family loved. Now I have no need to pay $ to be mistreated after literally investing 2 decades of my life and the lives of all the people I love. Thanks for reading my Novella! Do go to have some of the most authentic Mexican food I’ve had in the good ole USA! Jalisco and the carousel painting are from the state of Jalisco, with the largest city being GUADALAJARA. NJOI and food is more than...

ATROCIOUS service, horrible management, and subpar food.

Also? Only go here if you want to be robbed, over charged and be threatened to have the police called on you. Check their FB reviews, it's not the first time either. Details below.

I came in for lunch and ordered the chicken fajitas. They are $13 as are the beef - so I asked my server they could do half and half. He said sure. When my food arrived I was surprised to see the fajitas weren't grilled (they are listed as grilled on the menu), they were pan fried, and the meat was old. It was very dry and low quality meat (and I'm not a picky meat eater.). I didn't say anything and had one taco with them, but being hard and dry, I avoided them and stuck to the veggies.

When I got my bill, I was surprised they charged me for the shrimp mixed fajitas (with chicken and beef) - $18. I asked my server and he said sorry, that's how we have to do it when you get more than one meat. I said 'but that's not what I ordered ... I said half/half, since chicken and beef are the same price'. He went to talk to his manager and said that was the price. I then told him I was also unhappy with the quality of the meat as well -- he could see I left the entire plate of meat at my table -- and he said "You should have brought that up earlier". Really? Nice response. I wasn't out to complain, but when they charge me more for a dish I didn't order, something that was inedible, yes, I'm going to also bring that up.

He went back to the manager 3 times -- who refused to come out and speak to me. When she finally came out I told her I would not pay for something I didn't order, especially with the quality of the meat.... her response? She threatened to take down my license plate number + call the police if I didn't pay for the mixed shrimp fajitas platter I didn't order (!!!). Are you fing kidding me?!? Great customer service lady. You over charge me, serve me old, ratty meat that was inaccurately described on your menu and you're going to threaten me? She was a massive 'see you next Tuesday' if you know what I mean.

Needless to say, I wont be back. And...

Ordered a menudo with bread, side of rice, and extra LEMONS. I brought my food back to work and finally had an opportunity to sit down and eat. Upon taking my food out, I discover my order isn't complete. No bread, 4 containers of chile pequin and no oregano, NO ONIONS, and a packet of 4 slices of lime, not even a whole lime cut up. I called the restaurant and was hung up the first time. The second time I called, a different lady answered and responded with oh! we forgot your onions? You can come back for them. I explained to her that I was at work and couldn't leave again. I asked how many limes were generally included with menudo and was told 2. I asked her "You guys charge $1.25 for two wedges of lime? Come on now! I can get a whole lime for less than 50 cents! She replied, that's management making the prices, this isn't my restaurant." Then she tried to recap what my concerns were by saying so no onions that you don't want to come back for, and limes are priced that way by management. She clearly was frustrated and in a rush to get me off the phone also saying, "So what am I supposed to do about it?" I told her ''Obviously you're in a hurry and irritated, can I get a manager's name and a time I could reach them at?" She said "Laura" and proceeded to rush me off the phone again. I told her she wasn't addressing my concerns nor giving information to contact a manager. She then sarcastically said, Laura, I'm Laura, and I'm the Manager and only one you can talk to." No communication skills, and not one hint of making their so called mistake right. On top of getting caught in your own lie. I wonder who the owner is and if they know how their customers are treated by managers! Won't be back and definitely not recommended. Not good practices when restaurants are struggling supposedly to stay open...
