The food was great, but the overall experience was unpleasant for a variety of reasons. First we went for chicken and fries. The portions are huge, and the fries and chicken were both excellent. But there were 5 groups ahead of us and only one employee working in front, so we waited in line around 20 minutes to order. At least the food came out fast, probably 7 minutes. We ate outside to escape the crowded chaos of the small restaurant. But while we were eating a gust of wind picked up and blew leaves and hair everywhere. Why is there so much hair on the ground? There's human hair, dog fur, etc, and somehow a few pieces of hair landed in our food. I've eaten outside plenty and never had this happen before. It wasn't an unusual gust of wind for Denver either. It might help if they could get a landscape crew to clean up the outside area, although it seems to be shared with the other restaurants.
We went back for ice cream after a short walk. This time they had three employees working in front, two taking orders and serving ice cream and one helping, and the line went a lot faster. The flavor selection was unimpressive. They had chocolate ganache (might be good if I liked chocolate), camp fire (s'mores), cereal milk (froot loops), caramel apple, buttered popcorn, chocolate, and vanilla. The only one that sounded appealing was caramel apple. I tried a sample, and it tasted vaguely appley, but not caramely. I decided on vanilla. It tasted good, but it melted super fast. While waiting in line I overhead the employees saying something to each other about how the vanilla/chocolate machine was too runny. Despite eating it as fast as I could, it made a mess, melted before could finish it, and left me with sticky hands. I couldn't savor it because I was eating as fast as possible.
I couldn't even get toppings because I'm allergic to peanuts, and the topping bar was a mess. One of the options was Reese's, and when someone ahead of us ordered it, Reese's crumbs ended up everywhere. One employee attempted to clean spilled toppings from between the bins on the topping bar, but that just pushed a lot of the spilled toppings into random bins. I honestly don't know how they could do better (a vacuum cleaner for spilled toppings? Keep nuts in a separate area?) and I'm used to being cautious due to my allergy. But it was a little disappointing to end up with plain vanilla with no toppings. At least they did change gloves between groups (without me having to mention an allergy), so my plain ice...

The Little Man Ice Cream family does it again, this time with soft serve. Denver is seriously lacking in the soft serve department, so it's about time!
First of all I highly recommend asking for samples prior to ordering. I made a mistake my first trip here and ordered without trying, which led to mild disappointment. I went with a group of friends, and tried their flavors and enjoyed them much more than my own.
The second time, I was much wiser. I sampled the matcha and lilikoi, which were both pleasant. The lilikoi tastes like a mild mango/passionfruit, and is not tart, tangy, or overly sweet at all. Then, I tried the caramel corn and Mexican chocolate, and oh man, that was the clear winner. The caramel corn actually tastes like caramel popcorn (but in a good way for ice cream), and the Mexican hot chocolate was nice and creamy.
My husband ordered the vegan chocolate ganache the first time around, and then the dreamsicle the second time. The Dreamsicle is probably less like an orange creamsicle, and more like one of those chocolate orange balls they sell around Christmas time.
You can order a small or big size, or even a bomb cyclone which is like a blizzard. Your first topping is included. They do offer specialty cones as well, in addition to dipped cones, waffles cones, and cake cones. If you like dipping fries in your ice cream, they've got that too. Want your cone dipped in hard shell or drizzled? They can do that too! I definitely recommend going for the cake cone or cup. I haven't witness this myself, but I have heard from my friends that the waffle cones can get quite messy very quickly.
Did I mention I was disappointed the first time? Well, for my first trip I ordered the black raspberry and 'nilla eclipse, and it tasted nothing like I expected it to. The flavors tasted dull and lacked the boldness I was used to at other soft serve places. The recipe for both was also more on the icy side rather than creamy. Everyone has their own taste preferences, so I'm sure many people love that flavor combo, and that's awesome, but it was not for me.

Read moreWhat a dang disappointment. There are very few soft serve ice cream shops around CO and was excited when I received the e-mail for the opening of Dang especially since we are HUGE little man fans! We went with our 5 year old and tried to look at a menu for flavors before we went. I did not see a menu of flavors...I guess I should have called first. There are 8 flavors total and you can make 4 different swirl combinations. There were only 2 guests ahead of us and it took quite awhile to get through the “line”. I can’t imagine how long this would take if it were a busy weekend/summer evening. I think this is because it is a timely process for them to get the toppings onto the ice cream that are served in cones, honestly even in cups. I’m not sure if it’s the consistency of the ice cream, but the toppings do not stay on. The servers had to scoop some on and use an individual bowl to then press the toppings into the ice cream. The poor little girl in front of us lost half of her gummy bears on the floor before she left the counter. Oh they had also run out of peanut butter cup topping the day before. That’s a pretty standard topping I would say. The outdoor area is amazing, but wouldn’t return due to the very unusual flavors. I’m sure some will absolutely love it. Just not for us. Flavors I can remember from today’s visit: Vanilla with charcoal so it’s black ice cream...not ideal for little messy ones. Black raspberry Creamsicle (Vegan) Chocolate (Vegan) not a hit with our 5 year old. Mexican chocolate(spicy) Caramel corn Matcha flavor I can’t remember the last one. I would also say they are quite pricey. $3.50 for...
