Updated Review*
I have to edit my review after the terrible service we were just subjected to. I brought family from out of state here and hyped it up to them. We made reservations but the restaurant was mostly empty when we got there anyway. The same song played over the speakers for the first hour we were there. So loudly. They increased the volume 3 or more times while we were there. You can see hy my old review and see that I know music plays and have no issue with that at all, it's just the volume that was an issue tonight. We were actually wonderingnifaybe it was malfunctioning at first due to the loud volume and the song playing over and over. We had an infant with us and one of the other two groups in the restaurant at the time did as well. The staff were taking shots in the dining room and were obviously ready for us to leave before we even got our food. We have been before so are aware of the time limit and have no issue whatsoever with that. We had reservations for 9pm and didn't actually order until after then. We also knew that last call for new food or drinks was at 10:30 and had no issue with that. We were ready to leave by 10:40ish and had to go get a waiter to help us pay to leave because all the staff were busy getting drunk. Paid $150 to be made to feel like we were crashing their party. They could have just told us not to come when we called at 8pm if they didn't want us there. I was embarrassed to have taken my family there tonight and am upset that I spent money to be treated like we were. I have gone here multiple times and never tipped less than 30%. I have never been made to feel so unwelcome in a restaurant before. I have worked in restaurants myself and don't begrduge anyone their after work socializing but the thing about that is you actually need to wait for your shift to end and the customers to leave before starting the party. I'm just glad we didn't have kids with us who were old enough to understand what was going on.
*Old review I’m no expert in this cuisine by any means. This is only my second time having hot pot but I really enjoyed myself and so did my partner. We got the collagen broth and the Szechuan spicy broth (it wasn’t very spicy but it was flavorful and there was chili oils and chili sauces of all kinds as well as tons of other sauces and other condiments on a self-service bar so not hard to find spice if you wanted to.) and we also did the BBQ. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was very fun with music and groups of people having a good time. My photos aren’t very good haha but I will post...
Read moreUPDATED on August 22: In terms of the reply to "Mr.," I never expected a response from you. But after reading your reply, I can see why you have so many one-star reviews. First, you were right about the beginning; we wanted to sit by the windows at first. After being told these are not BBQ tables, you gave us two choices: either the very first table next to the entrance or the very last table next to the kitchen. This was our first time, and we never knew which table had BBQ. After seeing so many tables with BBQ, we questioned you. In your reply, you claimed we chose the table at the end because the table next to the entrance has "wind and cold." What nonsense is this? That Sunday, August 17, at noon, the exterior temperature was 94°F. It’s just a meal; is it really necessary to lie to cover yourself? I won't bother you again since you lack the most important element in service: honesty.
Original Post: On Sunday, a friend introduced this Denver hot pot restaurant. We came with our family for the first time but disappointed. We received the worst treatment in this hot pot restaurant.
First, a gentleman greeted us as soon as we entered the door (he later said he was the boss) and asked us if we wanted to barbecue. Faced with a large number of empty tables that could be barbecued, he said that only the tables at the door and the innermost tables could be barbecued. Then when we questioned it, he began to "ignore" it with cold violence. During the nearly half an hour, the boss and another waiter walked back and forth many times, as if we didn't exist. The table next to us, who came later than us, was already eating. There was only a vegetable basket, three fried spring rolls, and a plate of kimchi on our table, but no hot pot. After we finished the spring rolls, we took the dipping sauce and waited for the hot pot and vegetables to be served. The two walked back and forth several times, expressionless, and didn't even look at us, so we had to say goodbye.
We came to consume, not to be bullied, and we felt so uncomfortable!
I would like to remind the boss that you are in the catering service industry. In addition to ensuring the quality of the dishes, you must also treat the customers who consume here well. Although this is a very unpleasant experience, I still hope that the boss can improve his...
Read moreVisited Denver Hot Pot & BBQ at 2200 W Alameda Ave #38, Denver, CO, and it was a fantastic all-you-can-eat experience! The food is outstanding, with fresh, high-quality meats like beef, pork, and lamb, plus seafood options like shrimp and squid. The hot pot broths are made daily, and the spicy one was a perfect mix of heat and flavor. The vegetable selection—leafy greens, mushrooms, tofu—was fresh and plentiful, and the DIY sauce bar let me customize every bite (loved the sesame and chili options). The Korean BBQ was solid, though I wanted more char on the meats. Service was top-notch—staff were friendly, quick, and great at explaining the process, keeping the table clear even during a busy evening. The variety of meats and veggies is impressive, with vegan options too, though I noticed bulgogi was missing from the menu that day. Parking is easy in their lot, and the location is convenient, though better signage on Alameda would help first-timers. Areas to improve: The parchment paper on the BBQ grill prevents that crispy char—direct grilling would be better. The sauce bar is awesome but overwhelming; a guide for newbies would be nice. Clearer menu labeling for specialty items would also help. Overall, a super fun, flavorful spot for groups or casual dinners. Highly recommend for hot pot and BBQ fans—make a reservation for busy nights!...
