I have been buying cakes for years from this bakery. I am a loyal customer, that being said I have purchased the red velvet cake over 3x. It has always had an Oreo cream filling of some sort. When I went to cut into the cake I noticed it was crunchy and it was giant pieces of Oreo all the way threw the middle layer of the cake the cream filling would normally be. Then when I went to serve it the top layer fell right off because of the cookies. I decided to call the bakery and let me them know about my disappointment In how the cake was made. And that I have never received that specific flavor made that way before. And the owners daughter told me that they allow the bakers to make it how they want meaning as they did nothing wrong and once the cake leaves the bakery it is no longer their responsibility. I asked her don’t you think that you should inform customers if you’re going to change the way a cake has been made every time and then all of a sudden they change it don’t you think It should be up to the customer if they want it made that way. I then asked her don’t you compensate your customer somehow even if it’s a $20 credit for a future purchase and she said no, they don’t give refunds, they do not compensate customers because the baker did no wrongdoing even though these cakes have been made the same way for years. The cakes are normally amazing but as you can see the customer service is terrible. Not to mention when I did walk in to pick my cake up I looked in the back and seen one of the bakers putting some coconut or something on the cake with no gloves on, seems a little unsanitary.

I went into Eternal Bakery with my mom looking to buy a whole Spring Fling cake. When we asked the girl at the counter, she told us to wait while she checked with the back. I overheard them say that whole cakes were only available through pre-order, which was fine—I figured I’d just see what other options were available. Then, I watched them bring out a brand new, uncut Spring Fling cake, place it on the counter, and cut a slice for another customer who only wanted one piece. Mind you, there was already a sliced cake in the display case the whole time. So clearly, they could have sold me the uncut cake I asked for. Still determined to get the cake, I asked if I could just buy the rest of the one already in the case. Again, the girl had to go ask for permission to sell it to me, which seemed unnecessary—I was just trying to buy what was already out for sale. As they were packing it up, someone apparently called in asking for a slice, and they told me they had to cut into my portion to fulfill that. I was told it was because it was a pre-order, which was confusing, but I let it go. Then, as I was paying, I heard a woman behind me ask for a slice of the same cake. I sat in my car and watched them bring out another brand new Spring Fling cake just to cut her a slice. At this point, I couldn’t help but feel frustrated. If they were willing to cut into new cakes for others, why was I repeatedly told no? It felt inconsistent at best—and at worst, I couldn’t help but wonder if something else was going on. Racist or stupid.. you tell me

I recently had a gender reveal cake picked up for my first baby. The request was very simple, standard white chocolate raspberry cake with thick bright layer of either blue or pink frosting in the middle to indicate gender. I received the standard cake with raspberry filling and thick layer of WHITE frosting in the center… My request was very simple and for a $100 cake I expected my minimum requests to be met. The writing on the cake wasn’t even straight and looked like a toddler’s handwriting… When I arrived to pick up the cake there was no note that the cake was already paid for and I was being charged twice for the cake. The girl was nice and patient as I called family to get the receipt for cake. Eventually, they spoke to the manager and figured out that the cake was in fact already paid for. I didn’t think much of it as I understand miscommunication happens sometimes. However when my husband and I went to cut the cake it was quite disappointing to see no obvious gender reveal… quite an unfortunate experience. I was not planning on writing a review but after my cousin contacted the business and received an entitled rude response with no genuine apology, I decided to share my experience. I had really hoped for a better response from this business as they are right around the corner from my house and the cake was still good. But I can’t support a business that doesn’t take accountability.

Has anyone ever had a poor experience? Previously, I was a very loyal customer, for years, following the lead baker since he was baking at the Market. I'm talking about every event, every birthday, thousands of dollars worth of business. Anyway, I ordered a cake last week and needed to place a deposit by yesterday. I forgot said deposit and called to make it over the phone and was told there was a 4% charge to do it over the phone. I asked how much my total would be with the extra charge because "my cake is already almost $100 (right here she interrupted me with a sassy attitude before I could finish my sentence and said your cake was not over $100) and if the charge is too much, I'll just go in". She tells me his 4% charge is going to add $10 to my total (which 4% would actually only add $3.40) so I told her "I'll be there before 6 to pay the deposit" and hung up. I then received a text message saying my order was cancelled. I called back to confirm this and she thought I hung up on her in the previous call, which I didn't, I said I would be in to pay and also said good bye. The conversation was over - of course I hung up. So, to cancel my order was uncalled for, I TOLD HER I WAS ON MY WAY TO PAY FOR IT. 1st of all, when you run a business, your admin should NEVER cut off a customer mid sentence...that is customer service 101...2nd of all, to be rude and unprofessional is one thing but to go as far as cancelling an order because you want to be sassy and petty is another. This girl isn't even the owner of this business, she is an EMPLOYEE! She needs to sit down and know her place - because if she continues to have the same attitude she pulled with me today, she compromises the business. Losing me after years of being a loyal customer may not effect them, and that's okay! But ethically, this is not an establishment I want to give my hard earned money to. Especially if their staff doesn't have the desire or integrity to be...

Just go to Lala’s bakery, female owned and also previous bakers from larimer market before they closed.

The first time I bought a cake from them about 3 weeks ago I just dropped in and picked up a 10 inch. It was beautiful, but the cake itself was noticeably dry. I assume it was made a day or two before and set up to be sold by the slice. But it wasn’t terrible. Second time I went in to place a cake order and pay it up front but was told I couldn’t and had to pay at pick up. I told the girl I’d be back the following Sunday at 2 to pick up the cake. I got a slice of blueberry cream cake to go home. The cake was absolutely DRY. There was a molded blueberry on top and I just couldn’t bring myself to eat it. I couldn’t trust the blueberries in between the layers. Come Sunday I’m running late, I get a text saying my pick up was at 1 which is strange because I said 2. I got a message at 2 saying I was a no show for my cake. I immediately called the bakery and advised them I was running late and let them know it’s a 50 minute drive. She told me they wouldn’t hold the cake and I only had until a certain time to get there. Which is odd since they closed at a later time. But whatever we get there with 6 minutes to spare on the deadline given. The cake was much better because I assume it was made to order. But the fact they wouldn’t let me pay before hand and didn’t give me adequate time to pick up the cake even though they scheduled pick up earlier didn’t sit well with me. I’ll just continue to give my business to Lala’s bakery. They are female owned and we’re also previous bakers at larimer square where we got the spring flings before they closed. But better quality, easier ordering with no hassle and much bigger pick...

Looked everywhere to try to get authentic Spring Fling cake for my best friend's birthday, came across several articles stating EF had it and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was the case. Spoke to a gal a couple times about getting one on short notice and she was helpful and obliging during these interactions - I did indeed manage to get the cake even despite having just called that same morning. The cake was lovely, presentation was just what you would expect and it was as true as the Market's

My only gripe was their "first come first serve" policy. I did not place an order prior to that day for the cake so I understand not being able to reserve me one of the extras they had without payment but when I confirmed they had extras I tried to pay over the phone or even pay online - at which point I was told I couldn't do either because it was "first come first serve". I asked a couple of times in disbelief because if you have extras and I'm trying to pay you whats the hold up? If I am attempting to pay you am I not the queue, why do I need to be physically present? I could even see if the concern is fraudulent transaction - just verify my ID and card when I pick up the cake.

She did not offer any alternative, did not seem the least bit interested in making the sale. I was at work till 5 and I had to ask the birthday girl's brother (who was watching her infant daughter) to go halfway across town to pick it up which I found to be ridiculous and unhelpful.

I will still give them 5 stars because the cake was 10/10 quality and it was the standout aspect of the evening but the customer service I found to be lacking and placed needless hurdles to...
