Normally don't leave reviews, but this place definitely deserves one. I came into town to visit family and we stopped by for dinner. Picked out the staple spring rolls and pho noodle bowl with a bubble tea for easy ordering and was promptly knocked back into my childhood during the 90s when the Vietnamese immigrant community was thriving in my hometown before they relocated further out of the city. The taste was exactly the same as what I experienced many times as a child. While the presentation was simple, the ingredients were fresh and the broth was clear, full of flavour and didn't leave my throat feeling like it was burning from the over use of salt and msg like many other current places do. I always thought that scenes in movies depicting characters crying over food due to flavour were just an exaggeration. Oh boy was I wrong. I nearly cried when I had this bowl of pho and I am not ashamed to admit it. The only thing missing was the Vietnamese karaoke music that would be playing over the speakers. I am so happy I found this place. It's a pity I can't just eat here regularly or order take out here and have it delivered to me because I live in a...
Read moreThe food looked amazing but when my best friend and I ordered our food it arrived with peanuts on it- which my friend is allergic to. There was no specification on the menu (digital or paper) whether it did or did not have nuts on it which is a problem since so many people suffer from a peanut allergy. None of the workers were on the floor to assist so my friend had to physically go and wait by the kitchen just to catch there attention. When a worker did finally help my friend he was very rude when he was asked to replace the dish with one without peanuts. It was explained that my friend is allergic to peanuts but instead of even offering a simple apology he asked "Why did you order the dish if you don't want peanuts?" It was explained yet again that my friend was allergic and when he finally listened and went to grab the plate to replace it he was complaining to a coworker about it the entire time as if we weren't even there. It was a terrible experience from the moment we sat down to the moment we left and I highly do not recommend eating here if you are, at the very least, looking for decent...
Read moreVisited Pho Vin this afternoon (Saturday) after reading the reviews, and I was excited to try a new pho place as the average rating was 4.9 stars. After entering the restaurant, it was empty, and we might have taken this as a warning if not for the times. My boyfriend and I both ordered pho, and the crab cheese wontons. Both came out at the same time and very quickly, which was great, but the wontons had approximately a dime-sized amount of cream cheese and onion filling in each one, leaving the rest of the wonton similar to the deep-fried strips you’d fine with wonton soup. Disappointing, but even more so was the not one, but 2+ hairs I found in my soup. After mentioning it to the waiter, he said nothing and then just replaced my bowl. I found additional hairs in the next soup (as pictured) after finishing the majority, and pointed it out to the waiter again for sanitary purposes. He just nodded at my boyfriend’s complaints and gave us the check, which we were still happy to pay. We will not...
