Black Owned Space in Colorado: Genna Rae’s. @gennaraeswingsandmore This order to go, family owned restaurant is located right by Manual high school on the East Side, and has been in business for 7 years. They have different wings, fried fish, and sides and it’s made fresh to order so it’s best to order in advance. Check out my ā€œBlack Eats!ā€ highlight to hear more about their story and make sure to stop by and check them out. Called to order for pick up. They were out of all sides except, baked beans, fries and onion rings. Ordered ribs, hot wings, baked beans and onion rings. Drove 20 miles to try the food. Waited an additional 30 minutes outside. Low and behold here comes a MAJOR storm. Everyone outside went inside. Some people had masks, some didnt. Didnt want to check my order inside around people without masks. Left in a hurry b/c of weather, hail, trees down. Should if checked the order in the car. Got home to find an entirely different order. Honey Hot Wings, large waffle fries and a small seasoned fry. Tried to call but power is out, phones are down. Very very disappointed. The following Monday I called and explained what happened and they were very apologetic and they kindly replaced my order. The food was excellent, we waited a fair amount of time, even so ordering ahead of time. The ribs were flavorful, the coleslaw was deliciously homemade and the greens were great too. My son ordered hot wings which were HOT šŸ”„and the mac n cheese was so creamy. YUMMY FOOD!!!! THANKS GENNA RAE'S šŸ’œ

Me and my wife were in town for a couple weeks staying in downtown Denver where there are a abundance of restaurants and we tried a few but Gennas was the only one we tried more than once, three times matter of fact. The last time I was there I got there 15 minutes before they even opened, but the door was open so I walked in and was greeted by a friendly guy name ā€œginā€ he let me put my order in anyway and we ended up having a delightful conversation about politics and his store, he even brought out samples of the brisket I ordered and let me taste test. He also informed me that business slows down around December, January so if you can still show them some love, wish we had a place like that in Saint Louis, they even offered to bring your order out to your car. The last time I drove away I was a little sad because I knew I’d probably never be back but the smell of the food I had just scored made me feel a little better, once again thanks

Update: it’s been six months since I ordered from there and the food is still so good. I just ordered a 12 piece wing earlier today and oh my gosh the garlic hot is so good and their wings are super super meaty! I’m going to order from there again soon and the red beans and rice is top notch. Their Texas toast is the best! Thanks for such awesome food ! I absolutely love the food! I got the jerk chicken dinner with the six wings and I love how everything was under 20 bucks! The sauce I chose for the wings was the garlic hot and it was the best sauce I’ve ever had and I don’t remember ever having jerk chicken this good! The red beans and rice are delicious! The only question I have is do the cakes change on a daily basis? The owners and the other people at the restaurant were super nice when I called to ask them about their desserts before placing my order on Uber eats. I saw some other reviews about how long the wait is but I want to mention that when people are getting homemade fresh food it’s worth the wait. Please keep up what you’re doing I will be calling back soon about your cake selection and I will definitely be ordering more food from you soon, please take all the time you need to cook it because I want homemade hot fresh food. It’s worth waiting a few extra minutes! I hope the people reading this review remember that there is true soul in this food and please let the kitchen staff take their time cooking it. It came to my door piping hot and the packaging is perfect. One final thing I want to mention is that super delicious Texas toast! I wish it was offered as an add-on that way we could add more slices. If it is then I didn’t see it on the Uber eats menu and I would love to add a few extra slices to...

We were recommended this spot by a friend but idk where his head is at. We got pineapple habanero wings which had NO HEAT whatsoever. They looked to be one of the spiciest things on the sauce list, especially with the habanero but it was devoid of heat and spice although the general flavor wasn't bad. The owner proudly told us the collards were made with turkey and while cooked well, were largely devoid of seasoning and salt. The greens need bacon or a commensurate seasoning here, it doesn't work without it. The mac and cheese was fine, very soupy and the cheesiness in flavor and texture was okay. We also tried the Big Papa, a 1 lb burger which was also just okay. We said medium well and that thing was cooked as well done as you can make 'em. No seating at all - you just order and take it out. The guy at the front was quite nice and took the time to speak to everything. Too bad it just wasn't a hit.

If I want solid soul food, I'm going to Welton Street Cafe. I won't be back to this spot as I felt it was largely underwhelming and mediocre.

ETA I forgot to mention we also got their peach cobbler which tasted like someone dumped a gallon of cinnamon into water, slushed it around and spread it amongst the peaches. Truly heinous and assaulting to the...

First time here. It's definitely a hole in the wall restaurant which I love. Nowhere to sit inside. There's a table outside or you can wait in your car and they'll bring your food to you.

I ordered the honey bbq wings, side of greens, peach cobbler and an ice tea. They brewed the tea on the spot. The wait was quite long around 30 minutes or so. The cashier was very friendly and he apologized many times for the wait. He even included an extra side for the inconvenience which was a nice gesture!

The wings were very good and I love that they didn't skimp on the sauce. The greens weren't great. Really missing the seasoning for me as well as like some smoked hamhock bits or something. The side of red beans and rice were also not my jam. Weird seasoning for me. The peach cobbler was pretty good. It definitely had some sort of floral hint to it which I'm not use to but made well.

Overall I'd say the customer service was great as well as the wings. For the sides, it just wasn't doin it. Had family members try the sides and they agreed. I'll keep this one on my list for the wings and...
