Cute place with great breakfast food on cool 32nd Street. The atmosphere was nice for warm weather, and I will be curious to go back in cold weather to see how they adjust for that season. My only knock is that if you want to hang out and have two drinks with your food, you would have to wait in long line again. Wish they had some table service. But, my Hector's Panini was delicious and I will come back for that alone.
NEXT VISIT AND RAISING RATING TO FIVE: Second time here. First time, we were rushed. This time, we had some time, and they have a whole new bar area for seating. We will definitely come back now that we can sit there. Anyway, I had the Hector Panini and it was great again. Lots of delicious pesto flavor on a breakfast sandwich. They have LOADS of hot sauce, so look around the store for that magical shelf. You can go grab a non-alcoholic beverage or grab some breakfast booze too. Staff was solid and very friendly. I look forward to my third time when I try and not order the Hector sandwich. Definitely recommend and...
Read moreA local establishment that has potential, but falls short. The menu has some fairly basic cafe fair, standard coffee/espresso drinks and a small selection of wine, beer and cocktails. For starters, everything is overpriced. Cork & Coffee isn't the only place on 32nd Ave. charging $14 for a sandwich, but it does make a just-OK sandwich that should cost half that. And the cluttered kitchen buzzing with flies can't be meeting food safety standards. If you're into coffee, know that LavAzza ("Italy's favorite coffee") is a low-grade, mass produced coffee more on par with say, Folgers, than with the locally roasted craft coffee you can get at other shops not more than a block or two away. Plusses include a cozy atmosphere inside and great outdoor patio and reasonably friendly staff (often only one or two of them working at a time, unfortunately, which is a problem if there's a rush), but overall the restaurant fails to compete with other local options for food, coffee and drinks. Won't be returning...
Read moreI have been here twice and both times very disappointed with the service. The two stars are for the food, which is good. The first time I was here, I ordered a cappuccino and a panini sandwich. The sandwich took forever-- well over 20 minutes!! I think the guy who took my order completely forgot about it because he got slammed with several other orders right after mine. And then dropped a loud F bomb when he saw me sitting there with my coffee finished still waiting on the sandwich. The second time I went there, I ordered a sandwich and paid the bill. After they ran my card, I was then told that they were out of the main ingredient on my sandwich and did i want to order something else. I ordered a cheaper sandwich. When I asked, "are you going to refund my card and re-run the new charge?" the server said, "I guess, if you want." as if I was putting her out. I give it two stars because the food is good. But I won't be going back because the service is pretty bad and the...
