For years I dreamt of a coffee environment in Park Hill that would be as open and spacious as it was warm and inviting, a spot with good coffee and tasty food, ample outdoor/indoor options for meeting, gathering and working. When I first walked into Honey Hill (newly renovated and substantially improved from the previous shop), I felt I'd walked right into my dream, as it truly captures all of the elements that previously were missing from the other coffee joints in Park Hill. And it captured other elements as well, details I didn't need but found enchanting: gorgeous design elements and friendly signs, some of which brandish poetry quotes and other wise words, as well as artwork, plants, toys and brilliant light stretching throughout the room.
Sure things weren't perfect in those first days - the droves of folks that flocked to the shop early on would've been overwhelming for any staff, so of course the waits, of course the mistakes. But come on, give people a chance to find their footing! Because not not only did they do the best they could, but they were honest, open and warm about the situation, and ultimately, the suffering by patrons was no more than time to wait on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon in a shaded patio or bright, open room. Also, the owner is a gem of a human being - I'll be back time and again -...
Read moreAre you kidding me with this? That was my question to the 18 year-old kid who passed me my glass of iced tea. I have spent a lot of money on food for the past 30 years of my life and never once had an experience like this. I ordered the quinoa salad, which was fine, and I ordered an iced tea with no ice because I told them I really needed the extra caffeine. The kid brought me a plastic glass of iced tea 2/3 of the way filled up. I asked her why she didn’t fill it to the top and she said I am not allowed to give you anymore if you don’t ask for ice. And she was extremely defiant when she responded, as if wielding, this tiny little bit of power was exciting for her. I asked her if they were that hard up for cash and she blankly responded that she doesn’t make the rules. This is really bad business practice in my opinion and I’m sorry that one experience at this local café has deterred me for ever going back, but ick. And the most odd thing was that apparently they made my meal twice and walked around calling my name with a second dish that they already served me. I let them know that I’d already received my food and so they took it back and just threw it away. Some wait staff werevlovely, but the experience was not a...
Read moreThis place is a cute cafe in a cozy neighborhood. It's a good place to grab some food, coffee, and even ice cream while working/studying. The weather was perfect for the open concept they have. I really like restaurants/cafes that are open-air. Their bathroom was also not bad as well. The food we ordered was just okay. We ordered the Big Cheese and Breakfast Burrito Bowl. The Big Cheese is a grilled cheese sandwich on Texas Toast. It is verrrrrrrrrrry cheesy. It has a mixture of a bunch of different types of cheese, but i can't remember what they were. You can choose chips or salad as a side. We got the salad, which is arugula topped with balsamic dressing and pine nuts. The arugula was very fresh. The Breakfast Burrito Bowl was too saucy for me. This dish is also quite cheesy. If I were to come here again, I would try a different dish. Parking is also not too great. There's maybe 2 spots in the actual parking lot. Lots of people, including us, parked along the street in the neighborhood. Overall, this place has a nice ambiance, has fresh air, and is in a cozy neighborhood. If I were to visit again, I would try different food and definitely...
