This is a new favorite lunch spot of mine. I love Jamaican food, and unfortunately, there are not many options in Denver for when the cravings come. So how excited was I when I learned Just Kool, which used to be a food truck in Aurora, now has a brick-and-mortar spot in Denver! They’re a Black/family-run business located in a food hall that has some other great options available, including Sonder for coffee. Great space for a casual lunch and large groups. I met the husband and he was friendly and nice as he answered my questions about the menu.
I was impressed with the quality of the food here. I couldn’t decide which I liked better, the curry chicken or the jerk chicken. Both are beautifully cooked, tender, and perfectly seasoned, not too salty or heavy. The rice and beans aren’t mushy! The plantains and corn on the cob are scrumptious. And the beef patty is flavorful and not too doughy or too rich. They have an assortment of Jamaican drinks that i can’t wait to try—I had the sorrel ginger drink recently and it was tasty...
Read moreI’ve been eating Damon’s food since his food truck days near Buckley and Alameda, and let me tell you — Just Kool has been nothing short of consistent, fire Jamaican food every single time. Now that he’s inside Junction Food and Drink near Dave & Buster’s in the Cherry Creek area, it’s even easier to pull up and get a plate.
From the oxtails to the jerk chicken, everything is seasoned to perfection — tender, flavorful, and made with real love. The rice and peas? On point. Cabbage? Always cooked just right. Every dish feels like a piece of home, and my whole family agrees. We’ve never had a bad experience here.
Damon is a stand-up guy with a passion for good food and good people. He’s always friendly, welcoming, and puts care into what he serves. That energy shines through every bite.
If you’re in the area, don’t even think twice. Go check out Just Kool and support a local gem. You won’t...
Read moreI had never bought their food before and I will never go back! The worst food I have ever had anywhere! I bought the large jerk chicken plate and I couldn't believe how flavorLESS it was! Not only was the food lukewarm, but the size of the chicken drumstick was the size of my finger! I have never seen a chicken drumstick that size and I could have sworn it was a chicken wind drumette. I tasted the food and everything was flavorless, like it needed salt and some of the wonderful spices that is supposed to be in jerk chicken. I ended up throwing it away because I was concerned about food safety with the barely lukewarm temperature. Worst $16 I ever spent!
The guy has no costumer service skills whatsoever, but I could've forgiven that if the food would've been edible. 5 years in business and you haven't...
