Mile High Pupusas — Restaurant in Denver

Do not miss this super delicious spot!! I vacationed in Denver visiting my friend who just moved there, and one day we were out looking for a quick bite to eat. We had never even heard of pupasas, but after seeing the reviews decided to check this place out. So delicious. Do follow the instructions about dumping the cabbage and hot sauce (not that hot) on top as you eat. Pupasas are like a doughy pancake with filling, of what kind you order. We went with the most popular 3 the owner said, and then one that had little flower in the name. The latter was actually my favorite although they were all so so delicious. My friend and I split 4, this was a perfect amount for a meal. The owners started only 6 months ago when they could no longer keep up with demand making these out of their house. It's small, family run, with unassuming really nice people. They seem to be doing well, there was a steady stream of regulars in and out picking up their "usual" - I think they do GrubHub too. One of my favorite meals...

Place is dirty in the kitchen has dust bunny's on the ceiling (health hazard) highly recommend people skip this place youll find better Mexican food for cheaper or at least the same price at many other places they will also get your food to you within a decent time I waited for 20 minutes for 2 burritos and 1 other item get this they also use a microwave! Yikes! Please don't order delivery here either they waist the drivers time by not having the food ready BEFORE the driver gets there they need to stop using the grubhub service or hire a dedicated cook to handle delivery orders so delivery drivers are not waiting 15-20 minutes of there time and money waiting for you guys to complete orders that should have already been done YOU GUYS ARE AFFECTING MY HOURLY WAGE WHEN YOU DO...

We drove from Boulder because we heard about this place. We were really excited to try it out. We get there and it's a ghost town at the front counter. We wait and a young guy comes out from the back.

I enthusiastically greet him and I get a stare. A glare really. He keeps glaring and in a tone that told me he really didn't want us there says what can I get you. I told him we'd need a little while to look at the menu. He says aight and returns to the back. We were stunned at his demeanor. My companion said he didn't feel like he wanted us there. So we left.

We had such high hopes for this place. I don't know if he was having a bad day but this was unacceptable. A simple hello there would have been nice. Dreadful...
