I recently visited this spot for the first time, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. Upon letting the waiter know it was our first visit, I began asking questions about the menu, but before I could even finish, he started putting my order in. Even after I mentioned that I wanted to check with my husband first, he proceeded to enter my order. When he came back to me, I informed him I hadn’t made my decision yet and needed to figure out my order. He had to go all the way back to the kitchen to cancel it, which was already off to a frustrating start. I also asked the waiter if the chicken sandwich was made with white or dark meat, and he didn’t know, so he had to go ask in the kitchen. When he came back, he informed me it was dark meat, so I decided to cancel it and ordered the American breakfast instead. The American breakfast consisted of eggs, your choice of bacon, chicken sausage, or turkey sausage, and either toast or a biscuit. My husband had the same, but with chicken sausage, while I opted for bacon. Unfortunately, the biscuits were cold, served with even colder butter and thawed-out frozen strawberries. My eggs even had pieces of rice in them, which was pretty off-putting. My husband’s mushroom gravy was more like watered-down broth than anything else. A few other things added to the disappointment. Since when does a chicken sandwich come with thigh meat instead of breast? And when I was trying to change my order and ask about the menu, the waiter gave me an attitude, almost as if he didn’t have time for any of my questions. Also, my husband asked for coffee, and when it came, he had to ask for cream. The server mentioned the cream would take sometime low, and when it finally arrived, he just dropped it on the table with the stirrers. No effort to make the experience feel welcoming or thoughtful. The atmosphere was decent, with a DJ playing music, but honestly, that couldn’t make up for the lackluster service and food. When we were finished, the waiter suggested we come back another day for a better experience, which just felt like an excuse for the poor service we received today. It’s disappointing, because no matter how new or established a place is, the experience and the quality of food should always be top-notch. There should never be excuses for why something doesn’t taste good or why your service isn’t up to par. Sadly, I won’t be sharing this location as one to dine at.

I really wanted to love this place especially being a Black-owned business but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. After being seated we spoke with three different people before we even got a server. We ordered mimosas and could literally see them sitting at the bar for several minutes before our waitress brought them over only to mention they were made with orange juice instead of pineapple but would be comped. Appreciated the gesture but it set the tone for the rest of the visit. We ordered chicken and waffles with a side of potato latkes. While waiting we had to flag down other servers just to get drink refills. Service overall was slow and disorganized. When the food arrived it looked amazing but the chicken was so tough it was hard to eat. We finished our meal and still had to ask again for our mimosas. By the end I honestly felt bad not leaving a tip but between the poor service and multiple mishaps, I couldn’t justify it. I truly wanted to support and enjoy this restaurant but I won’t be returning👎🏾. I hope they can improve their service because the potential is definitely there.

**Brunch, with a side of community ** I *really* didn’t want to tell you about this place. It’s that good - the kind of local gem you dream of gatekeeping before the inevitable hour-long wait kicks in. But here I am, spilling the mimosa. From the moment you walk in, you're wrapped in a vibe that feels curated and cozy without trying too hard. Ask the radiant owner (who is a total delight) why it’s named what it is…trust me, you’ll leave with a story. Even the colors: marshmallow, basil, mustard and turmeric - are all food-inspired swoon fuel. The food- Amazing. The staff- Incredibly attentive. The vibe- Honestly, the main course. There is also an in-house bakery whispering sweet nothings for your next visit, and I can already taste my round two. This is more than brunch. It’s connection, care and comfort with a perfectly poached egg. Go now- before I change my mind and start lying about the address.

This is a lovely neighborhood spot with pretty good food but some serious front of house/service struggles. To be fair they did seem understaffed and there were maybe 2 or 3 servers for the whole place and a couple of bussers, or maybe servers didn't know where their sections were? Bussers also doubling as host so seating could be off. Maybe he's new to serving or having an off day but the server we had just wasn't really on it for a Sunday brunch shift, our party of five +2 who staggered in later were sat at the community table and a couple that sat down at a table next to us left before being helped before he even greeted us. We had to constantly ask him to get us waters (which he still miscounted forgot one) and coffee refills, missing a coffee, I thought he forgot my drink order and almost canceled it but I'm glad I didnt cause it was a good expresso martini! We had to get up to get the other things we asked for like creamer and hot sauce. (Side suggestion to management to put a self- help service station with those things on it to help out servers if they're struggling) I had ordered a side that never came out and was still on the bill. Other items were missing from the bill. He voided the food I didnt get from the computer but left the card reader device on the table for us to figure out how to split the bill evenly as he didnt offer or ask, I guess just assumed it would be one bill (I know it's a pain to separate bills for large parties but even split is not hard with the devices used now). To his/back of house credit all of the food came out at once and timely except for my side, which was fine as I was full from my dish anyway. Food was fine, donuts were FIRE, but my salmon polenta came out a little cold and salty.

I know serving isn't easy, I've been a brunch server myself and have had other FOH jobs so I know how it is. But this just wasn't up to par. I might try this place again during a less busy time or to...

Came here over the weekend for the first time to dine in. Food was fantastic, but unfortunately they were having a bad day in the kitchen. My husband ordered the burger - medium rare with bacon and smashed potatoes. It came out well done, with fries and without bacon. I had ordered a power bowl with a poached egg. I received the power bowl without the egg nor the dressing it was supposed to come with. My husband sent his order back and I nursed my meal while waiting for my egg and salad dressing. The dressing came back with my husband's re-made burger which he was really happy with. My egg never came after 20 minutes of waiting and asking about the status. We had been finished with our meals for quite sometime still waiting for the egg. I finally got up to let our server know he could cancel the egg which he forgot to take off our bill until we brought it to his attention. Our server never came to see if my husband wanted ketchup or hot sauce when his food came out. The coffees we ordered (same time as the food) didn't arrive until after our food came out. We had also ordered a cinnamon role to share (at the same time as our entrees) and had to ask for it twice after we had received our meals. We also had to ask for a water refill twice and got it from a different server. Our server was clearly flustered and we felt bad for him, but he didn't help the situation by blaming the kitchen, or continuing to tell me my egg was "being made" when it clearly wasn't. I think there were ways he could have offered to remedy the poor service by offering a complimentary coffee or a small discount, but nothing. I really like this locally-owned restaurant, and want to support it, but with service like this, take-out is probably a better way to enjoy the food which...
