Read moreI recently visited Santos Cafe for the second time, hoping for an improved experience. However, I left feeling quite disappointed with several aspects of my visit.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was busy, but a courteous gentleman at the front offered us a table. We had seen a viral TikTok video showcasing a large pink pastry at Santos Cafe and were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the item was not listed on the menu, so we asked our waitress about it. Along with the pastry, we also ordered huevos rancheros and chilaquiles.
The food arrived at an appropriate temperature, but unfortunately, the flavor did not live up to our expectations. The huevos rancheros and chilaquiles lacked the delicious taste we were hoping for. We also decided to try their chai, which turned out to be overly sweet. However, I must mention that the barista created cute foam messages on top of the drinks, which was a nice touch.
After finishing our meal, we asked for the check, only to be informed that we needed to pay at the counter. To our surprise, the total came to $60, which seemed quite steep. It turned out that the large pink pastry, called a concha, was priced at $20. While it may be a unique and popular item, it felt exorbitant for a loaf of sugared bread. When I inquired about the high price, the staff responded rudely, simply stating that it was the set price. I suggested that they include the price of this popular item on their menu, as it would help customers make informed decisions.
Overall, my experience at Santos Cafe was underwhelming. The lackluster flavor of the food, coupled with the unexpected high price of the concha and the staff's unhelpful response, left a sour taste in my mouth. I hope the restaurant considers addressing these issues to provide a better dining experience for...
Read moreOMG! this is place is AMAZING! I went with my sisters here for mother's day. We got there around 10:30am and then waited for about two hours. Yes, two hours, but we were prepared to wait a while considering it was mother's day, the timing and the fact that nobody takes reservations on mothers day.
Once we were seated, everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. The food is amazingly tasty, I was surprise to see my favorite Mexican dish (steak ranchero) served as a breakfast dish!! ding-ding-ding! We then order their famous concha and hot chocolate to share (check out their Instagram page and Tik Tok in case you do not know what I'm talking about). The concha pan dulce is made here and it is gigantic, we ordered one to share in our group and each one of us ended up taking a big chunk home still. About that, I ate another piece the next day and it was just as fresh and soft as the day before. I don't know what they do but every panaderia I've gone to and picked up pan dulce, the conchas particularly get hard and dry by the next day, not this one! The hot chocolate was made from the real chocolate abuelita us mexican people remember drinking growing up. Yummm! The cup of course had to match the size of the concha because who's going to buy their concha and not dip it in the hot chocolate right?
I was seriously blown away by the food taste, and their warming welcome we genuinely felt from everyone that works there. The experience was such that none of us even bothered paying much attention to the prices therefore I cannot speak on that area. What I can say is it didn't break my bank account or even put a dent big enough for me to even notice lol.
I will definitely be coming back, maybe on a day where the wait time...
