My husband and I were eating lunch, not busy what so ever… an older lady sat down a couple stools away. She asked the bartender (Zach-heavier set, lighter hair, light skin) for a margarita. He said you’ll have to order through the app… (she couldn’t hear very well at all, traveling alone, again elderly) she said I just want a margarita please. Zach said you have to order through the app! (This went back and forth awhile and Zach was getting frustrated with the lady because she wasn’t user-friendly ordering via a phone… he was being VERY RUDE, obnoxious the way he was addressing her, belittling her in front of all the other patrons). I asked HER if she would like help and Zach insisted to let HER do it because then she’ll know. (Ok, but I helped walk her through the process). THEN Zach RUDELY applauded this lady being super sarcastic and blatantly down right rude. My husband and I quietly sat and watched their interaction, along with the gentleman on the other side of my husband. … she asked for another drink and Zach stated that shell have to order again through the app. This elderly lady, (NOT KNOWING HOW this whole online ordering goes) opened up her app again and started the process over and Zach came over and said to her; ma’am I do not feel comfortable serving you anymore alcohol and I’m asking you to leave. (She couldn’t hear him and was LITERALLY SIMPLY ASKING for help again). So I said to Zach, she is very hard of hearing, can you just LISTEN with patience, she is TRYING to order through the app again?! Zach stated SURE I’ll tell her louder than! (Again in a VERY RUDE SARCASTIC manner). He wouldn’t just come over to her to patiently LISTEN or even HELP HER, he continued to basically IGNORE her, so I said to her… my husband and I are going to find another place to enjoy a beverage (we were not drinking alcohol, but were SO DISGUSTED with Zach’s lack of compassion) and invited her to come with because Zach had just told you to leave…. Appalled, she sat there in disbelief that she had been asked to leave. My husband asked Zach to come over to just ask him to be a little more patient and have some compassion, and AGAIN came back with a very unprofessional, rude comment, acting as if he were funny and being the entertainment for the other patrons…. When actually he was being nothing less than disrespectful, rude, and very unprofessional. I hope this review serves a good purpose. I wonder if Zach has ever needed assistance...
Read moreMy recent visit to Sunset Grill at Denver Airport was deeply disappointing—not because of the food or the environment, but because of the appalling behavior of a staff member named Zach, who was acting as both bartender and server.
The restaurant uses a fully cashless system, requiring all guests to scan a QR code, place, and pay for their order before any staff interaction. While this may be efficient for some, it can be confusing for others—especially travelers unfamiliar with the process.
During our visit, my wife and I witnessed an elderly woman enter the restaurant to order a drink. Instead of offering guidance or being patient, Zach was dismissive, rude, and belittling toward her. His tone was condescending, and his behavior bordered on cruel. My wife stepped in to assist the woman with the ordering process, but when she tried to order a second drink, Zach claimed he “felt uncomfortable serving her” and asked her to leave. He then continued to make insulting comments about her as she exited, leaving everyone around stunned.
I stood up and calmly asked Zach to remain professional and be more considerate toward those unfamiliar with the system. His response? Another sarcastic, flippant remark.
This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially in an airport setting where travelers of all backgrounds and ages deserve respect. Sunset Grill should seriously reevaluate the training and conduct of its staff—Zach’s behavior was not just unprofessional, it was mean-spirited and disrespectful.
We won't be returning—and I hope others think twice before supporting a place that allows this kind of treatment of...
Read moreThere are a lot of things I could touch on, but to start: the restaurant itself is beautiful, with a very appealing atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service is poor and the food is just average.
Service: I sat at the bar for over 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging me. It wasn’t until I finally asked for help that someone responded. One of the bartenders told me she wasn’t clocked in yet—despite clearly working (cleaning glasses) and it being 15 minutes past her start time. She directed me to order from the QR code, but my question was really about recommendations, not just placing an order. Both bartenders seemed disinterested in engaging, preferring to talk among themselves.
Food: I ordered a turkey club with fries. The fries came out cold (which should be hard to get wrong). It took over 10 minutes—maybe longer—for them to bring new ones, and when they finally arrived they were just okay, though overly salty. The sandwich itself was unnecessarily heavy on sauce.
Overall: This isn’t about one server having an off day—it’s an organizational problem. Both bartenders were checked out and unapproachable. The location is too nice to be paired with lackluster food and poor service. Unless something changes, this place is headed for failure.
Lastly, prepaying a tip before ever getting the service is the most ludicrous thing and really speaks to the general entitlement that’s happening at...
